Any other methods for unscrewinng these things.

I bought individual clutch head bits from McMaster-Carr. They are 'bits only' in 1/4".
These will fit right into a hand held hammer impact tool, and when you blast your striker plate screws with this setup, you get instant results....

Usually come in sets of 3 or individually. Also, using allen head drivers in a torx screw is a sure way to strip it out. Using the correct tool is always the best way to do things.
