You can use a foot button switch that Steiner Tractor sells for several types of antique tractors along with a solenoid starter to make a very convincing looking fake foot start.

One kit I looked up that mates a stovebolt engine to a Chevy V8 pattern automatic trans costs $650.00 and includes a racing type gear reduction starter. I believe I can build one from 3/8" steel plate for under $100.00 that uses the original stick shift flywheel and starter with an automatic trans torque converter. https://store.tracyvette.com/item/1849/Jerry

One uses a Ferguson 9N starter switch and some various other parts to make it work.
The other one utilizes a micro switch rather than the tractor switch but will require a relay to energize the V8 starter solenoid.
Both of these are self contained inside of the starter pedal bellows (except for the relay for the one with a micro switch).
Both of these switches give you the feel and the looks of the original mechanical starter.
