Got some of when I started taking the truck apart 20 years ago. That front crossmember is completely full of yuck!

John, you definitely have me beat in the front crossmember division.

I did find about a 1-1/2" diameter rock up in the frame after it was sandblasted.

Kevin, I like the thread idea! Maybe edit the title to say "Crusty Parts Contest, 'Before AND After Pictures' "

I don't take before pictures. I prefer my after pictures.
Viewing my before pictures, I fear, would cause me to suffer from a form of PTSD.
I have built some trucks which make me smile to look at. I don't really want the grim reminders of what it took to get to the finished product.
However, I have been to car shows where guys would have a huge binder full of pictures of their journey which included nightmarish conditions, but appreciated what they accomplished to bring a pile of trash all the way to an absolute gem, but that was their nightmare not mine, which is quite different.
Having said all of this, I look forward to see what everyone else shares about their journey in this thread.

Here's my crusty 1946 gauge cluster as well as the "after" version of the cluster. I tried my best to match the font and aesthetic of the original.

I Know for some this will be a sacrilege...

This is the after and before pics of our 49 GMC with a Chevy nose. That is the way the truck came to us. Most everything else about the truck is stock.

Skookum,

Is that something you created to fit in place of the original cluster? That's pretty cool!

Seeing these old engines all one color "rusty brown" and then the after - it's amazing.

The “before” gives a general idea of the condition ofmy cab and firewall. Surgery was the only option.
Cheating , maybe, but necessary.
