We should have a before and after section to post photos of really crusty parts before we start cleaning them. They would provide comic relief and inspiration at the same time.
OK, I'll start. How's this for CRUSTY?
[on edit] added a couple of After pics.

John, you definitely have me beat in the front crossmember division.
I did find about a 1-1/2" diameter rock up in the frame after it was sandblasted.

Kevin, I like the thread idea! Maybe edit the title to say "Crusty Parts Contest, 'Before AND After Pictures' "
Mike B - That's an excellent suggestion! The renaming has been done. Now back to some more fun.

I have to give credit to Paul Mullen for the idea. Agree with the rename. Thanks Dan for doing that.

I don't take before pictures. I prefer my after pictures. Viewing my before pictures, I fear, would cause me to suffer from a form of PTSD. I have built some trucks which make me smile to look at. I don't really want the grim reminders of what it took to get to the finished product. However, I have been to car shows where guys would have a huge binder full of pictures of their journey which included nightmarish conditions, but appreciated what they accomplished to bring a pile of trash all the way to an absolute gem, but that was their nightmare not mine, which is quite different. Having said all of this, I look forward to see what everyone else shares about their journey in this thread.

This is the after and before pics of our 49 GMC with a Chevy nose. That is the way the truck came to us. Most everything else about the truck is stock.
Just wondering if the completed truck also has a "Side Dump" bed?
Do you mean "Reversed Side Dump?"

Almost "too clean" to be a before photo - lol! The grime has already been done away with.
