For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 20 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 20 | Hi. In the last couple of months, i have been cleaning up property, inside in one of my old school buses, I came across to a 216 or 235 motor that was in a 1941 chevy truck, it still has the edmunds valve cover and intake. i like to know what is it worth. it has been in storage since the late 1980,s. I think the engine itself is bad. i saved it due to vintage accessories that it had on it, I am just curious about the value of them, I havent seen them for sale or at any swap meets.
thanks for any information
I am not selling them or anything else.

Something I’ve wondered about these: The tube that goes through the intake, I assume to be some sort of manifold heat provision. Was it for exhaust or coolant?

The two barrel carb intakes are a little more rare, but not hen's teeth rare. The valve covers are approaching hen's teeth, in my opinion. I don't live in an area where a lot of folks are still running inline sixes, so a lot of my perception comes from what passes by on eBay. I haven't seen an Edmunds valve cover on eBay in a while, maybe a year or two.
As far as what it's worth, I guess that depends on its condition and whether or not someone was willing to ship or only sell local, if that person was selling. I see 235s pulled for a swap and given away for free here in Texas, and the same engines selling for hundreds to a thousand plus in California where the demand is higher. I would expect the aftermarket stuff would have similar geographic variations in price or "worth" due to demand.
My best friend runs an Edmunds valve cover on the 235 in his 58 Apache.
JW, I think the tube was intended for coolant, but I recall seeing one plumbed for exhaust once too. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 362 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 362 | I was curious to see if there were any replies, and it occurred to me that I oversimplified the intakes. Edmunds had a few different logos on their intakes over the years, so there is variation there, and later on the Edmunds name/logo was used on an intake that is essentially what most people would recognize as an early Fenton dual 1 barrel. That intake design was cast with at least four or five names I am aware of from memory, possibly more: Fenton, Edmunds, D&S, Von Esser, and maybe also Clark Header.
As Achipmunk said above, I'd also love to see some pictures. | | |
