I have ruined 3. They will not squeeze the spring far enough and I am veryy nervous about kiling myself if it breaks by cranking it down too far. I have stipped out 2 and bent the 3rd on beyond use. Needless to say I am frustrated and I am not interested in taking it to the shop that welded the Xmember. (see my IFS cost post in the HiPo shop) Help Thanks, Sean | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 244 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 244 | I bought a spring compressor from Harbor Freight. Doesn't Kragens or AutoZone rent these tools out free? May want to check them out. BTW when using these compressor, it's wise to use a length of chain looped the top and bottom links together so if the compressor fails, the spring won't "boing" out at you. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 272 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 272 | Actually those were the first 2 I tried. I ruined the Autozone one in 1 try. The harbor freight alomost made it once. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 346 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 346 | These guys have been pretty reliable and have brand name stuff.
