Also, I don’t really know which dash-hole it Goes into. I’m new here and just bought the truck I’m inquiring about. I’ve got a bunch of questions, just thought I’d start with this one. Thanks. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 | Welcome to the 'bolt, please go to the welcome forum and introduce yourself and your truck. It is usually mounted on the extreme left side of the dash. You'll need to use something like a marine rated high amperage switch, as the momentary current draw of the pull-in winding of the starter solenoid is around 40 amps. Be sure to wire the circuit through the neutral safety switch to avoid starting in gear. Jerry

I think it goes through a starter relay on the firewall, but not for sure-waiting On a book I ordered for the exact wiring diagram. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | This one resembles the original equipment switch very closely, but it's only rated for 15 amps. I'd suggest using it in combination with a solenoid switch mounted on the firewall near the starter motor. www.ebay.com/itm/122828881524?Jerry

Similar designs are also available for 6V operation. Where is Wadley AL located? I'm just above the Alabama state line near I-65, about 40 miles NW of Huntsville. www.ebay.com/itm/375086569284?Jerry

If you don't and have a really hard time finding one, expand your search to include switches from 1952-56 Pontiac and Oldsmobile switches from cars using HydraMatic transmissions. Added bonus is that those switches came with a third terminal to operate backup lights. I had one from a 54 Olds in my 57 GMC.
