Just a shout-out to our fellow Bolters in the Southern area. Very much hope all are safe and not seriously impacted by the hurricane and its aftermath. Please check in and let folks know how your doing or if you may need something. Stay safe and God Bless!

I'm in Sanford, FL which is 15 miles north of Orlando. We were on the very far eastern side of the storm. No damage to report, just a bunch of moss to clean up in the yard.

We had more wind than rain, power is out and trees are down everywhere. I lost 5 trees in my yard, one across a power line. The local area is mostly without power, a local curfew has been set. The gas stations that are open have lines around the block. Only the the stores with backup power are open. Most places are only accepting cash as internet is out.

I have a back up generator and a 60 gallon fuel tank, I will be pulling fuel from the vehicles if needed. There is no indication of when power will be restored.

I received a text today from Dakota38's wife Vickie. They are fine but are without power. Lots of trees down on their property and in their area. They could be without power for some time.

Good to hear that most faired well thru the storm. Having been thru a couple of the worst storms, close or at the storms 👁️, Camille 1969 and Katrina 2005. In the 80’s I adopted my own 125 mph rule. I watched south facing aluminum windows flex inward by the 125 mph wind. If the wind was above that and heading in our direction we were leaving (we were on high enough ground that even Katrina’s 25’ storm surge would not be an issue). If it was less we stayed put.

Please don't tell my wife how much this thing cost!

I just to remind the readers, Southerntruck is off I-10 ... right along the MS coast. Some of what I saw on the news showed so much sand that had poured onto the beach. Several autos were half way covered in sand. frown

I texted to Alvin 'Chipmunk' last night. He said they were without power, cell service and water until late yesterday afternoon.
Hopefully he will check in today.

We had no water, power or cell service.
We are good as of late yesterday. Areas all around us are devastated and a main bridge to us has caved in on one side. We have power but many trees are still laying on the power lines.
Hardest part was no C-pap machine. After 1st nite I was ready to plug it up in the truck and sleep.

We lost everything in the freezer and fridge but no complaining. We are still blessed.
Now to haul it to landfill.

We were subjected to rain that is still hanging in here in the form of the residual low pressure zone. Some wind, some trees down but no big deal. Townsend, TN on the other hand is in the area that was on a watch for an impending dam failure, but it held. That entire eastern portion of TN and western NC have many flooded roads and washed out bridges. I-40 collapsed off the side of a mountain by the border not long after friends of mine, along with thousands of others, had just driven trying to avoid the storm. I have no specific details about Townsend, but counting our lucky stars and should play golf tomorrow on a soggy course.

We were hit pretty hard here in Edgefield. We lost 52 trees in the yard and driveway alone. All of my beautiful white oaks (oldest one counted 170 growth rings) were lost. God is good though! None hit the house. My daughter and son-in-law were not that fortunate as they took six large pines through their house, but again God was watching over them. As the storm progressed they moved from the top level to lower levels. The first tree hit above my grandson’s room and made a 10’ wide hole directly above his crib. As they moved from the middle level to the lowest level four more pines came into the kitchen and living room where they had been. My son in law was carrying my oldest grandson down the steps to the lowest level when the trees hit and broke through the kitchen and living room where they had just left. I’ll be months cleaning up this mess. Folks from church and some of the guys on the fire department with me helped me get the driveway opened up enough to get out.

Amen to that Craig! Thank you Dakota for your offer to help. I’ve got a grapple ordered for my old backhoe that I’ll pick up in a week or two that will make it easier to get everything cleaned up.
