can someone tell me how to take the column out of my 54 . do you just take out the 4 bolts and slide it out.

help quick

No, don't take the 4 box to column bolts out, that won't get you anywhere. Pull the steering wheel and turn signal mechanism off. Take out the dash mounting bolts and any floor plates down at the firewall. Then unbolt the pitman arm from the box and unbolt the box. Now, the hard part. You either need to "modify" the inner fender or remove it since the steering assembly comes out through the wheel opening. The short version, You have to pull the box and column together. I actually just performed this operation a couple of weeks ago and it was a 54 (2 ton) also,
