I’m asking for general knowledge. During the Advance Design period, or before or after, did Chevrolet (or GMC) equip big-bolt trucks with Budd wheels? Thanks!
I've never tried to put a Motor Wheel on a Budd Wheel hub or vise versa, but yes you need to use the Budd wheels with Budd nuts. The nuts are cone shaped to center the wheel on the hub (stud piloted)...the Budd Wheels lug holes are all conical shaped to accept the cone nuts (inner and outer).
The attached picture shows the 1955 and earlier Motor wheel (hub piloted) and the 1956 and newer Budd wheel (stud piloted).

More "general knowledge" for Frank's request. The two pages below are from the 1939-53 GMC Master Parts Book. Sorry, there isn't a magic decoder ring to go along with the manufacturer's code. K.H. would be Kelsey-Hays. I don't know the others.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
My 59 GM dump truck has the Budd wheels with the huge conical nuts, but one of the front rims is a Motor Wheel Corp rim. It slips over the studs fine, the holes just don't use the taper on the lug nuts to align the rim.
You can probably use them on the inside wheel of a dually as those use regular-sized studs compared to the budds.
