       Hey! I think that Bolter just passed us!!!


We owe much to many who helped us build this site and have been its strength. Many participate in this passionate hobby -- from helping newbies, offering sage words of advice or kindness, or showing up with tools!

Just because they won't show up anymore, we will not forget them. We don't want to think of their passing as leaving an empty parking space. We want to think of them as having left a permanent brick in the foundation of the site. Piece by piece, brick by brick, we exist because they helped build us.

So, just as there are memorial walks paved with Memory stones, we created a Virtual Memory Lane to remember those Stovebolters who lovingly left a grease smear on this place before they left for the rust-free zone. Those of us who are left behind still wrenching, feel free to share a fond memory, a funny story or to just give thanks for the friendship or fellowship in memory of Stovebolters who have passed us by.

Please -- This is for and about Stovebolters only -- please post topics about non-Stovebolters (celebrities, etc.) to the Greasy Spoon.

In case you wondered .... the Passing Lane has been around over 10 years (since 2013) and had a good *resting place* in the Office area. With the increase in views via cell phones, we realized we needed to fix the description page since it really took up too much room on a small screen. So a basic welcome-type post seemed to be the better way to set up the description with a "Read more" directional link. This is something we see frequently on News websites and it is effective (for folks who WANT to read more).

So, fear not. Just some housekeeping here.

I check the Passing Lane every day I'm online and thank the Lord when there are no new entries.

Larry, I do same. I am surprised we don't have more. Not that we get them all. Unless someone knows what's going on. Hence our encouragement to an "each one reach one" approach, especially in the Side Lot and Parking Lot.

I check in here often as well. I sometimes wonder about those members who simply disappear. We don't always know where they might have went.

I saw this today in the back window of a truck. Thought someone would find it useful for a fellow stovebolter who has left us. Since I needed to use full editor to post a pick I put it in the Passing Lane. I know you will relocate it if necessary.

Crummy, this is fine here. Thanks for posting it. It is a wonderful sentiment. We already have a Bolter who could make these up for us. Will report on this as things come together.

I had the Bill Alderson sticker on my panel for several years, liked it quite a bit.

Indeed. Kathy Weeks is sending one of the ones done for Barry back in 2022. We'll see what that looks like. Seems like we will have three to choose from then. We have a Bolter who is willing to make them up, dedicated to a Bolter who has passed.

Leo, you and Fred were with us when John put that sticker on our F-250. I assume he did the same on your panel that same weekend.

Here is what the window stickers look like that Kathy Weeks had made up for Barry's memorial. They do look nice and a nice remembrance. That idea may be of interest to some folks.

Same here Leo, and thanks Peg, I may be gone....from the forum that is, but I haven't forgotten all those great guys I meet while was participating. So I check in ever month or so to see who are still above ground and to refresh my memory of those that have passed this way.

Denny ... for whatever it may be worth, sharing breakfast with you in Kansas City years ago is still one of my happy Stovebolt Experiences/Memories.

I check from time to time to see if I am on there but forgot to give up.
