I'm cleaning up and repacking the disassembled u-joint. The locking tab plates are marked "USE OIL". I'm accustomed to greasing u-joints, not oiling them. What am I missing?

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 181 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 181 | FYI for anyone curious: I found in a vintage GMC maintenance manual that the "oil" which is specified is SAE 50. If I had to guess, I would say that, except for when it came from the factory, it has had grease pumped into the joints for every maintenance thereafter.
