Hi Stovebolters , Thanks for the welcome.
I recently feel in love again , I havent checked any numbers yet or got her out on a date yet but what I want to know was the 5700 made in 1954 ?

5100, 5400, and 5700 Chevrolet COEs were made in 1954. They were either 1.5 tons or 2 tons (an S after the number is a 2 ton).

The S means 1.5 tons, not 2 tons.

best way to post pctures is to find a picture hosting site such as photo bucket, webshots etc. upload your pictures and then post a link here commonly as a part of your signature line.

Spanky corrected me on my statement above about the "S" designation. I got it backwards - the "S" means 1.5 tons. The 5700 without an S is a 2 ton. (The link I gave has it right, I think).

If I am wrong again, I hope Spanky corrects me (again).

I still haven't got the old girl home yet. I think I read some where that color would be called Omaha Orange , does that sound right ?

Omaha Orange was a '54 color but I'd say that COE is well-weathered Commercial Red (another '54 color).

I agree with Tim. Looks like weathered Commercial Red to me also. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like you have a pair of Factory Accessory "Guide" D68 Turnsignals mounted to the front splash(gravel) pan. Better keep up with them. Does it have a bench, or "Unison" Split seat in it.

I finally got my COE home and now Im sure it is a faded commercial red and it has a Unison split seat in it.I posted another pic . They are guide D68 turn signals . Thanks Morris

Need more pictures Morris. It kinda looks like it is a tandem axle setup, in that forward facing photo. Having that Unison Seat, is a great bonus. The Guide 68 lamps are a good accessory also.
