I'm sure that others here can help you with where to find the brake parts. I'd start at the local NAPA.
Hope this helps

You may find the counter person at Napa not able to find your parts and have to do some research your self but they will have them. | | | | | Joined: May 2002 Posts: 155 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2002 Posts: 155 | When dealing with NAPA, if the guy can't find it in the computer, you'll have to remind him to use the parts books..some of the NAPAs around here won't look in the books, unless you insist...

I was lucky and happened upon an older guy that really wanted to help. I had a master cylinder kit delivered overnight and he told me all the other parts were available. I first tried O'Reilys, but the youngsters at the counter gave me a blank stare when I told them what I needed. My 49 has the Thriftmaster engine. Good luck. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 | I came in lucky at my local Napa there is a young kid working there that thinks my trucks are really cool so he will research stuff for me on his own time. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 14 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 14 | jim carters classic truck parts has all of the stuff you need, be carefull when adjusting wheel cylinders, the brass teeth break off, i found out the hard way | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 243 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 243 | saw there wheel cylinders but no 2 ton brake shoes??? or did i mis them | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Try the Filling Station, they have all kinds of cool stuff. They actually KNOW how to work on the vehicles and have given me tips with installs on stuff. Great place. http://www.fillingstation.com/index.html Take a look in the phone book for brake shops and you can find someone to reline those shoes. I believe the brake hoses were the same for all the models??? I walk in with something new & insane every week and they have always been able to get what I need or help me find who has it. I'm not writing off the other chains tho, while it is typical for them to be manned by people who only know about thier own car (& not much at that), there's usualy a person or two with a clue and an appreciation for old rigs. Professional & motivated employees make all the difference in the world. As for the shoes tho, you'll most likely have to have your shoes relined. Not a real complicated proceedure, but you'll have to search around for a place that does them. Start at the local tractor & heavy equipment shops, lots of folks still running old rigs & machinery that they dont make parts for, so they would have the best info on who does relining. Also a good source of parts and the like are the heavy truck shops that deal with a wide range of makes. I took my driveshaft parking brake shoes into the local Motor Parts shop and they didn't even blink when I asked to have them relined. lots & lots of old farm trucks in this valley! 1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber" 2007 Chevy Avalanche 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things. But thats just MY opinion! :P
