i finally got the old thing road worthy. i have been working on my truck since i got it in january. it ran when i bought it but not good enough for test runs. i finally drove her to work today. she will do 50. maybe 55 if i cut away the rubber mat. the gas tank is still got some junk in it so i ordered a new one. you can get about five miles to a fuel filter. i will try to figure out how to do pictures. in the meantime she's a 6400 from 1951, with a 248. all stock flat bed dump. green of course, everything works now. thanks to the forum, it sure helps to get good advice from people who have been there. jerry

Congratulations, Jerry! I can't wait to take mine out for a real road test. Only driven it around the neighborhood so far...

I agree that the advice you find around here is priceless. Stovebolters are just good people.

Jerry. Nice to hear that another old Jimmie is on the road again. Five miles to a filter must make it a little tough to go anywhere but then I remembered that it is about 10 trips thru Nashville. HA. Great little place.

the smile on my face is huge. at first when i bought the old truck i was having doubts of weather or not i had made a good decision. being married, bad decisions can come back to bite. it will take some time to get used to the way it drives-handles. moneypit is right nashville is about 1/2 mile long so i can run all day on one fuel filter. my tank will be here in three weeks. in the meantime i'll keep the napa shelves empty.
by the way moneypit, why do you have the name moneypit. i personally can relate to it too, after buying some junk cars in my time.

Well Jerry if the truth were to be told I'd have to re-name myself 4549535762MoneyPit as every one of them has the same effect on my pocketbook. Thinking of Nashville makes me hungry for some homemade gooseberry pie, mmmmm.
