The Turkey Run look like a good venue for a Southern Bolter Gathering.

Who's interested?

An update from August:
I met with the folks from Classic Truck Club of Central Florida on Saturday. They will welcome us to join their group at Daytona. The club has secured club parking and will give us a defined parking area. Without defined club parking, it's the wild west for space. Approximately 4 to 5000 cars show up.
The cost for club parking is $30 for 4 spaces. Entry for the 4 days is $80 for the vehicle and 4 occupants.
There is an option for walk-in spectator at $20 per day that reduces the entry cost dramatically. No charge for parking if walking in.

I need to get people that are interested to let me know what direction is preferred.

These folks (see images) will be there. How about you?

Let us know.

Wayne, Now that I have a "Running" truck I plan to drive Thor to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run. Sort of it's first real stretch of the leg so to speak. I figure I should have enough time to work out some of the minor issues before making the 320 mile round trip. Maybe I can follow Alvin??

Now that Alvin and I are back from KC, we need to get the details for Daytona worked out. Alvin may trailer his'37 as far as my house, then drive on to the Rod Run. I am still planning to take Thor, not sure if we will be participating or just walk in's. I will try to have that settled this weekend.

Alvin, the Turkey Run covers the complete infield of the Daytona Speedway. I suggest either renting or bringing an electric powerchair. They should be reserved prior to arrival as they will run out if you wait.
It's a lot of walking, easily 2 to 3 times bigger than Moultrie.

This sounds like a fantastic show. With the car corral, show and all it sounds like a good time. I wish I could get there but have a prior commitment with the grand baby @ Disney at the same time. I would like to put some faces with all the names🤔. I have already put Tennessee on next years schedule if that’s possible.

Please don't tell my wife how much this thing cost!

Wow, Wayne. I just looked at the Gallery in the Central Florida Classic Truck Club site. Neat. Many of the trucks there look like the ones here on the Bolt. cool Sounds like a great event to "hook in to" and a good local group, too. Could become a regular thing. That's how these GABFests work! thumbs_up

Wayne, The plan has has changed five ways to Sunday. Alvin was going to bring the '37 to my house and we would continue on to Daytona on Friday. As of now Alvin is not bringing the '37, the fuel tank is leaking. I haven't finished the rear end swap and brake mods on Thor so he's out.

Currently I see us going to Daytona on Saturday and just being spectators. I do want to meet up with you and your group.

I'll text you with further details as we work things out.

You guys get your trucks road worthy , I will get mine in the garage and change my throw out bearing , reinstall the thermostat and service it and if your willing I can meet you in Brunswick on a day of your choosing . I do carry tow straps and boosting equipment if needed .
What do you do for lodging while there , is there camping on site .
I will probably be traveling alone so will have a spare seat if needed .

Panel Fan, do I understand you are joining us at Daytona? It sounds like you want to join Alvin and Craig in Brunswick and travel together.
We welcome you with open arms.
It sounds like Saturday will be the day.

That's the tentative plan.
Will it be a one day event for the Bolters or multiple days?
I was wondering if there is camping on site as motels will take up a big chunk of my petrol budget.
And your right, I was directing the post to Alvin and Tut, but somehow i didn't manage.
I did email the truck group who offered parking at the event in regards to camping, I've yet to hear back.

Panel Fan, there is no camping on site unless you rent a RV spot.
It looks like it's a Saturday only get together.

Jon, If your going to to do this the least I can do is afford you a place to stay. I'm just off I-95, about 3 hours from here to Daytona. I would almost bet you could "SHAME" Alvin into bringing the '37. Thor would make the trip, albeit at 51 MPH, but he would do it.

Wayne, will they let a truck in for just one day, Saturday? I wasn't sure if you would need to have a pass for the all 4 days?

The GOUNTLET has been thrown !!dance

Craig, yes, but there isn't any discount. The entry fee includes 4 occupants of the vehicle. So if 4 of us go and we can fit 4 into 1 vehicle the cost would be the same as 4 walk in's.

Craig, thanks for the offer, but I won't be able to accept at this time.
My original thoughts were to spend a few days at the turkey run then visit some friends in Titusville and Webster Florida which is not working out either.
It might be a better use of resources to head south sometime next year when I can attend a few events in one trip.

Thanks again

Wow gang. One week from today. Craig, will you bring the Stovebolt flag? I recall that you usually do. thumbs_up (You've had some great pictures in here with the flag!) Alvin may still have his biz cards. HERE ARE SOME HANDOUTS from the Events page that you can download and print if you need them.

Very very good. thumbs_up Curious, do many of you guys carry a Bolt Baby Book? I remember seeing them when at the shows in days gone buy. They were fun to leaf through. Some other folks had poster size displays with pictures and a few highlights printed on there. Maybe most have digital stuff now. Hmmm. Not quite the same effect. I'd think having the truck first and visual display as someone gets closer, but not wanting to engage. YET. wink If someone is truly interested, voila, whip out the old camera or pad. grin

I have 4 before photos that I stick to the doors in a magnetic sleeve. I also have a story board I hang on the grill. Both of these invites conversation. There are a couple Stovebolt stickers on the truck that makes it easy to photograph the information.

So we had a few of us meet up at the Turkey Rod Run, Wayne, AL and myself along with Linda. As if worked out we had none of our Trucks make the show. We spent the day walking through the thousands off cars and Trucks on display. There were many great examples of what is going on with the Hobby. There were vehicles from all over the US, many from the Snow Belt States. We enjoyed some time catching up the each other, Alvin and I have not seen Wayne's since the Lebanon show.

Yes, It was a good day. There were many more examples of Stovebolts than what is pictured.
We walked 6 miles and didn't cover 1/2 of what was there to see. The entire infield of the 2 1/2 mile track was filled.
There were celebrities on hand, a '32 Ford roadster to be won. Alvin bought a couple tickets. 'I haven't heard if he won yet.'
It was personal scooter haven, they were everywhere, had to watch your toes.
Being the 50th year event, it was the fullest I have seen it. More show cars, more cars in the for sale corral and the swap meet was ginormous!
We enjoyed the historic racecar area. A couple got started and were so loud my hearing aids couldn't overcome the noise.
The food aisle had all the standard fair foods available.
I enjoyed the time with Craig, Linda and Alvin.
Looking forward to getting together in Townsend next year.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

These are good photos. Appreciate all the captions. Helps a lot to know who's who and what's going on. Wayne, you did a good job to get this out there to the Southern Bolters. thumbs_up Like Tim said, I bet the group will be bigger next year for this one also.
