I am about to get a new cell phone mine is about full. It is a tracphone and I have always been pleased with them. I have been looking at Samsung but I want fingerprint activation because I have a couple of accounts that I can activate with my fingerprint. Also the log-on is fingerprint activated.

The biggest downside is that you are giving Apple your money. I have enough issues with them as a company that I won't buy any of their products.

If you have apps on your phone, you will have to get new ones for the iPhone that will probably work differently. Apple devices in the US also use proprietary cables and standards so you will have to replace all of those.

In my opinion you will enjoy the simplicity & quality of the Apple product line, they are very intuitive to use.
The camera is high quality, and you can share pictures with the Airdrop feature to other Apple phones nearby, and airdrop photos to your iPad, which I would also say is a great product you might enjoy. I rarely use my desktop computer since I got the iPad a few years ago.
One thing nice about Apple is there are no recurring fees, when an upgrade is available it is free, and they do not charge annual software fees (which always drove me nuts with Microsoft on my work computer)…..
My phone is the SE model, I believe it is the cheapest one…..I have broken the screens a few times over the years (worked in construction) and my local computer repair shop can repair with non apple products, which saves time & $$$.
Like it or not Apple dominates the market, and for good reason.

I also have the SE version I Phone. I find its very practical, easy to use and easy on the wallet to purchase. I have Spectrum Mobile here where I live and my rate ( bundled with Cabvle & Internet ) is $29.95 month , unlimited everything. Was $49.95 before the recent bundling.

I enjoy my iPhone as well, one thing you may want to research is any programs you are using now on your existing phone. Check to see if they are available for your Apple device, some programs are not Apple compatible.

My brother-in-law just switched to Apple and he is less savvy than I am, believe it or not. He had some difficulty figuring it out. I have used Tracphone almost from the beginning. I have been very satisfied, I just watch my usage and add when I need it. BTW I can do that from my phone. I have bought LG phones for others and once I get them started they are ok with it. One of them thinks she has unlimited minutes but the phone is listed on my account and I check hers and add when needed. yahoo I am not going to do anything until after the first of the year when I believe I can spend more on a new phone.

My FIL had Android, my SIL got him to switch to IPhone, she has Iphone, he hated the IPhone and is now back to Android. Unfortunately he cannot get his photos and personal stuff off of the IPhone. Some love the IPhone, some love the Android. I am an Android person, and will never own IPhone. If it were me, I would stay away from Apple products unless it's the fruit you eat.

We're with you Shane and Jason. No Apple products here. When it comes to camera quality, we did some research awhile back (12 years ago) because we were looking for a camera for someone. I was surprised to see how the camera quality and features in a phone had greatly improved - even at the low end of the scale. It must be even better now.

Hey Ron - why not go to a Best Buy and get them to give you some input. Not to buy from them necessarily but to be able to have someone for face to face Q&A - and some handson. We did that many times when researching stuff.

I am out in the boonies far far away from best buy. Other than my first phone, a flip phone for 1 cent I have always had an Android Trac phone and I did not know what Trac was except that they were cheap and easy to use. I guess I will look for a Samsung Galaxy. I have fingerprint recognition on my current phone and I want that again. It is on my bank and Trac account to add minutes. But the Trac account identification quit this week. There is another way in but not as convenient. ohwell headscratch Thanks all.

Classic debate Apple vs Android. Both are good and totally different in the way they operate. Switching from one operating platform to the other requires a bit of a learning curve. Once mastered you’ll be happy with either.

I switched to an iPhone years ago from an android as it integrates with my iPad seamlessly, and I love my iPad.

In your case, if your familiar with the Android operating system and don’t want to put in the time required to master the iPhone (ios) operating system, you may be best off keeping with a phone that uses the Android platform. Walmart sells the tracphone and may be your best option.

As usual, an excellent and helpful response from Phak1 / Phil.

If you have Apple products, stick with Apple products.

If you have Android products, stick with Android products.

If change from either product line, change all the products to the new "platform"

thumbs_up. Thanks!!!!!!!!Phil. I helped a friend pick out a new Android Tracphone at Walmart after hers was stolen. A Samsung Galaxie A14. She seems to using more of the features than the previous LG Trac phone that she had.

Theresa has an Android and loves it. I have an IPhone SE and love mine as well. If I take a picture with my phone it’s also automatically saved on my IPad. Text messages also connect with both.

Both are good, but if you’re happy with Android you should stick with it.

thumbs_up. It probably will be a Samsung of some kind depending on the PRICE. I admit that I am a neophyte when it comes to anything electronic. If not for being bullheaded and stubborn I would not have a computer or cell phone.

Phil, the feature I like the best is the automatic transfer of pictures to my laptop and my tablet. I had a friend who had her phone stolen that I had bought for her and she got a Samsung Galaxy 4 and does a lot more with it than before even shared photos with me that she had taken on her Florida trip with some girlfriends, the sharing was the first time.

My iPhone and iPad has that same feature which I also love. Sounds like a Samsung may be in your future!

I have an LG phone and so far I love it. Before that, I had a flip phone. I bought 3 LGs altogether and they have served the others well. Now I am into the Samsung.
