For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! I requested a quote a few months ago, and now that I went to add it, she realized it was a "big" truck :hammering: it's the mental pain! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | If you meet Hagerty Insurance's criteria for coverage, their rates are as excellent as their reputation:
1. Locked storage 2. Non daily driver; non business use 3. Every adult driver in your family a fully insured vehicle.
Disregard any comments about Hagerty allowing you to only drive in parades and to shows. That is not the case with Hagerty.
I was able to get coverage for an unmodified 1955 2-ton GMC COE (over 25" long) over the phone for a rediculously low price (because it is my third insured "classic" vehicle).
Here is the list of "nots" for Hagerty:
Hagerty does not offer an insurance product for:
* Inexpensive home-built kits that do not replicate a classic vehicle * Replicas of the 1963-67 Shelby Cobra Roadster * Any vehicles used for camping, off-road or utility-type driving * Pro-street vehicles modified exclusively with racing features such as roll cages, wheelie caster, nitrous systems, parachutes, etc. (Consideration may be given to show-use only vehicles) * Regular-use vehicles driven on a daily basis * Vehicles used primarily for commercial use * No motorcycles with performance modifications * Any vehicle modified with a nitrous system. Vehicles that run on nitro-methane or blown alcohol systems are ineligible. * Dune Buggies | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 173 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 173 | Progressive insured mine no questions, no restrictions, just like any other vehicle. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,602 | Same thing with my State Farm agent for a 2 ton fire truck. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 | Hagerty was a real PITA when I dealt with them, they are more restrictive than many companies that offer the same product at the same price. However, the last thing I needed was yet another bill, so I started shopping for insurance companies wehn USAA got too big for thier britches & started farming out thier business to everyone else. Farmers had to carry my dump under a commercial policy, but they were the only company I went to that could insure all of my vehicles, AND my home. I was gettin tired of paying 4 different insurance bills,... The cost is comparable to regular insurance on most trucks, but the bonus is it covers whatever you're hauling should you decide to do some business with it here & there. 1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber" 2007 Chevy Avalanche 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things. But thats just MY opinion! :P

No restrictions. Which is good because my garage isn't tall enough to get the girl inside...
People keep asking what I want to do when I grow up. I don't understand the question.
