Unless it was a special order truck, it's a 1-1/2 ton Single Wheel truck (has too many rear springs to be a 1/2 ton)...Chevrolet didn't make a 3/4 or 1-ton truck back then.

Looks like it has a newer engine, or maybe the late '36 rocker arm cover would fit a '34 engine?? More likely a 216 transplant, which isn't all bad. Does it have a brake booster? I see a device that looks like it might have a vacuum hose connected to it. While rare, they did exist, from the aftermarket, for mechanical brake vehicles. If the original I.D. plate is present, the first digit will tell the location of manufacture. 1 = Lansing MI 2 = Tarrytown NY 3 = St Louis MO 5 = K.C. MO 9 = Norwood OH
There are more but those are the ones I can remember and the most likely ones for a truck to end up in your area. The next digits will be the 2-letter series designation of the truck. PA = 131 inch wheelbase single rear wheels PB = 131 inch wheelbase dual rear wheels PC = 157 inch wheelbase single rear wheels PD = 157 inch wheelbase dual rear wheels
It looks like a great truck. I have a 1936 1-1/2 ton Chevy. I sold my '34/'35 stuff to a friend, a couple of years ago. I still have a couple of pieces which I will post in the swap meet area. I have been involved with these trucks for almost 50 years. Let me know if I can help.
That's almost identical to the dual wheel trucks my grandfather used, set up as tractor-trailer rigs, to haul beer from Milwaukee and St. Louis to Nashville in the late 1930s. One had a tarp-covered flatbed trailer for bottle beer, and the other one had an insulated box for iced-down kegs. There were some interesting stories told by my father about a sheriff in Kentucky, a steep hill, and a set of portable truck scales. Those rigs had vacuum assisted mechanical brakes on the tractors, and NO brakes on the trailers! Jerry
