Anyone done similar ?

Is it doable with a little drilling ?

A guy I know has the whole thing for $50.

My 62 needs one on the front for better handling.

I would say yes. I bought the universal only to find out mine had the holes for a stocker. There is a good chance the holes are already there.

Doesn't a 62 have torsion bar front suspension? There might be some unpredictable handling characteristics involved, even if the later model part can be bolted on. If you do that, I'd strongly suggest that you familiarize yourself with the modification under controlled circumstances.

I can’t say if this DIY will work for torsion bar suspension. So you will have to let us know how it goes if you try it.
I have done this on my 63 and 65 trucks with independent front coil spring suspension.

After looking at my lower A arms today, I dont think I'm gonna try it.

I'm pretty sure I am gonna be raising the front end back up some. The previous owner had it down a bit to far. I figure that will stiffen it back up a tadd. Then get some better shocks too.
