I am COCOE. I have a 1951 5700 COE that I bought in southern Oregon in 2018. It was in amazing shape compared to some of the rust junk that I almost got sucked into even if it had been sitting in a field for awhile, but it was all there.
I've been working on it for a couple years now and have made significant progress.
I know a lot of the folks on here are purist's and think everything should be returned to original but I have a different vision and need for this one.
I decided to build a car hauler for another vintage car that I show and race.
A lot has changed in the engineering along the way, but the original drawings are surprisingly still close to the way things are coming together.
I was directed to this forum by a good friend that asked me why the heck I'm not on Stovebolt? I was unaware of it but now I am. I have lots of photos of the build thus far and I will start a posting in the project forum as soon as I get released to post by the monitors. Here are a few pic's of when we picked it up.

Your truck looks to have very good "bones" from your original pictures and I look forward to future posts and pics of your truck.
Feel free to post more pictures as you can here for now, hopefully with what ever "plans" you drew up so folks can see and follow along on your build.
There is another excellent forum called the Do It Yourself (DITY) Gallery right inside the "Welcome Centre" which would be a better place to start posting about your project.
Once again, Welcome!
Dan

Welcome! Good looking truck. Purists, tinkerers, hot rodders, all are welcome here. Several members are doing just what you propose to do... make a highway ready car hauler...
Post a few more times and you will be a full member with full privileges to ask away and contact members privately.
We are all here to help with any problems.

Thank you for the help and direction. I will take your suggestion and add a few early pictures here and when I get the green light move to the DITY gallery. I tried to add captions to the pictures but not sure if it worked. I will get this figured out and looking forward to shearing my build with everyone.
In case COCOE checks in here before he checks his email, we are asking him to start a thread in the DITY Gallery, so we can follow the story of the build, and allow for some question and answers.
Looking forward to watching it unfold over there.

Peggy I will start posting the truck story in the DITY Gallery hopefully soon.
Rusty Rod I live about 6 miles northeast of town at the base of the mountains. Some still call it Enumscratch but most know it as "The Claw". This area is rich with classic cars and trucks. Every first Friday of the month from April to October they close all the streets in the downtown area (about 4-5 square Blocks) for a drop-in car show/cruise-in. It draws two to three hundred awesome rides. And the downtown merchants love it.
There is also a new classic car museum in town that is very well done with a ton of muscle cars. Check out their web site, it's called the "Thunder Dome" I have no affiliation with it just appreciate the great job they did putting it together.
Thanks again and I will see you all in the DITY Gallery.
Welcome, I used to think they were the ugliest but then I saw the potential and wish I could have one at 80 I should be thankful with what I have. Thanks for sharing.

I live just north of Enumclaw and I would be happy to show you my build.
Being new here I'm not sure how to private messages but if you send me one I think I can figure out how to respond and we can coordinate when it works for us to get together.
You need just one more post/reply and you're official a full-fledged Bolter with access to PMs and all the other temporarily restricted places when in moderation.

Also consider posting something in The Whole Wild West Coast Side Lot. Maybe some others in the area (1300 miles you know ) may want to be part of a Mini-Meet. If nothing else, it'll encourage more to start thinking about more face-to-face and less virtual. Can bring a truck when it's f-t-f.

WOW! A Full-Fledged Bolter! Thats pretty cool, I think. I tried to start a new thread in the DITY gallery, but I did something wrong.
After writing a probably too long introduction I started adding pictures and all of a sudden everything disappeared.
🤦♂️ Oh well I will try again latter tonight. So, keep an eye out for upcoming stories and pictures in the DITY Gallery.
Thanks for your help Peggy, Tim
You can basically copy your first post from here and paste it in the DITY as a new thread. (See image.) If you want, I can copy the images in the first thread into that DITY entry. Anything to make it easier on you. BECAUSE, once you get started, we hope there'll be no stopping you. The more story and images the better. That was one problem we had with the initial legacy Gallery. Limited images. So, we encouraged people to get a hosting site for more photos. Updates were difficult (time-consuming). So, we linked the Gallery story to a DITY post. Now, this DITY seems a good way to go.
And, I'll be doing some editing along the way anyway. Minimal.

Congrats on achieving the lofty and exulted status of Bolter!
FWIW, take your time on your DITY posts. Start off with the intro as Peggy mentioned, with just a couple of pics while you get the hang of posting. From there, just add replies to continue the story and more pictures (up to 10 in each post/reply). That way your DITY becomes like a chapter story book, continuing along whatever path you choose.
Looking forward to reading your book!

Wow! COCOE has moved up to the big league with his Big Bolt and BIG project!! He's been invited to move from the DITY G to the Project Journals. A great addition to that part of our Virtual Garage.
If you haven't seen his recent posts, you will be amazed at what he's done. See it all here. And thanks to Phak1 (Moderator for Project Journal, as well as Engine Shop, Interiors, and Tech Tip coordinator) for his follow-thru with this and other projects.
