So I am new to this and not real skilled at this on line stuff but found something I hope you all can help me with. I have a 1952 1and a half ton chev and have been trying to find inner, outer, front wheel bearings, and seals. A friend showed me a post on this sight that refered to a cross refrence for the hyatt A11424 cup that I have on by truck but no mention of the seals. The outer cup number is not readable. I also have an extra piece that goes at the back of the drum like some kind of a retainer. If anyone has the info. Im looking for that would be great.
Try NAPA. Big bolt folks have good luck there. .....also send 3B a PM. He's great on big bolts. .......but first you must have 4 or 5 post before you can send a pm.
First off, Welcome to Stovebolt! Glad you joined us and look forward to hear more about your truck, not to mention seeing some pictures when you can.
A little research provides the following pertaining to your VK (4400) model 1-1/2 Ton front wheel bearings/seals:
Inner: Original GM# 7450131 (aka Hyatt A11424Z for the complete bearing and cup set)
Outer: Original GM# 7450034 (aka Hyatt KA-11035Z for complete bearing and cup set - Bearing = Hyatt A-11035 + Cup = Hyatt 11035Z)
Seal: Original GM# 3691478 (aka National 6511 or Trostel Seals XT6511)
If you do a web search, you will find a number of these bearing sets and seals available from a few sellers. I usually start by searching the GM#, then also search using the alternate manufacturers numbers to find the ads. There were some of each of these for sale in various ads this morning. Good luck in your hunt!!!
BTW - The "extra piece" you mentioned is called an oil deflector for the front hub/brake drum. Keeps the brake shoes from getting contaminated by wheel bearing grease/oil.

PS - I have moved your post to the Big Bolts forum as it is the best place to discuss all things related to your specific truck.

I have quite a few new wheel bearing races inner and outer as well as ball assemblies courtesy of Warren Foster some years back before his passing. They are ND which I understand is New Departure which was the bearing division of GM. Looking through my parts book, I am having trouble finding numbers for a 52 1 1/2 ton. I see outer bearing outer race as 909625 with a stamping that should be ND909625. I don't see the inner race listed. Then the inner bearing outer race shows as 909626. If you can still read the part numbers off of your old bearings or if you can find the ND part numbers or factory part numbers for what you need, I will check the collection to see if I have any of it. Thanks, Greg H.

When I researched the info I posted yesterday above, using Loren's provided info about the truck being a 1952 1-1/2 Ton "VK" (4400) model, the below screenshot from the 1958 Chevrolet Master Parts & Accessories Catalog shows the numbers you all mentioned to apply to 1950 and earlier 1-1/2 Ton trucks which doesn't match up with the Loren's described truck.
The ones you mention are "ball" style bearings, while the 1951-53 specific bearings listed for the VK 1-1/2 Ton are "barrel roller" style bearings.
Loren did indicate the existing cup on the truck matched the Hyatt "A11424" cross reference. Maybe Loren can tell us what number is actually on the existing cup? Or maybe provide a picture?
Just trying to provide accurate info to Loren and not cause any confusion.

You can see in the master parts book that they list a bearing assembly, an inner race, an outer race, and a ball assembly. Warren gave me a big old bucket of new bearing parts, There were a few complete bearings but mostly separate items. When I got them, I sorted them, wrote down the quantities of each one I had. That was years ago and I still have the bucket and most of my paperwork. It is probably going to be a dig and find operation. All are new and very old. Most were for the larger trucks, and all were the original ball style bearings. Been trying to re-home them as I saw needs come up for the big truck ball bearings. Just had trouble finding NP part numbers for 52 in the master parts book. What I am starting to wonder is if in 52 and prior, Hyatt was the supplier and then GM bought New Departure (ND) in 53? All of these are ND numbers.
thanks guys for all the information so far. I will get the exact numbers off the cups and cones tomorrow if I can, house is one place shop another. I only knocked one side out and the outer cup was real hard to read. Tried NAPA no luck, and when I tried the bearing supplier the drums were at the brake shop with the cups still in them getting drums turned. I do know the hyatt numbers are what is on the cups and they are not a roller, or ball, but a barrel type bearing. In all my 66 years playing with cars, and a few trucks, and working auto parts for years do not remember seeing any of these before. Grew up working and playing in my dad's wrecking yard in Dubuque Iowa, then living in So. Cal. for several years and this truck is brake and bearing wise like nothing I have ever seen before, but I'm still young. Well guys thanks again got other homework to do.
Thanks for coming back and confirming what bearing style your VK (4400) model truck uses.
I edited my last reply to correct my terminology on the bearing design. Should have said "barrel roller" instead of just plain "roller".
Sorry for any confusion. Below are screenshots of a pics of an NOS GM# 7450034 outer wheel bearing and cup set that display your described "barrel" design. If you zoom in you can see the Hyatt numbers on the pieces.
Looking forward to hearing more on your truck and maybe seeing some pictures too.

Just a note that your info on the ND "ball" bearings is correct for a 1-1/2 Ton, but applies to the 1946-50 model years as noted in the extract from the parts manual I included in a previous reply.
Design and bearing changed in 1951 to the "barrel roller" design and sourcing from Hyatt for original GM parts. Since Loren's truck is a 1952, his has the later style bearing.
Your stash of ND bearing sets will support all those vehicles listed in the parts catalog extract (see below) and hope you are able to rehome them as you indicated. Give me a shout as I may be able to help with that a little bit.
On to more info from Loren on finding and installing replacements.

Alvin gives some good advice, you just need to get a few more posts under your belt to get past being "moderated". Doesn't matter where you post, a reply or start a new post, just get 'em done - lol!
Then you can send/receive PMs to fellow Bolters like member "3B" for some one on one help questions.

Hy guys, just found this after being away for a couple of weeks. The original NDH Barrel bearings have not been available for decades, unless you find someone with N.O.S. stock. There were standard tapered roller bearing replacements available to replace the barrel rollers. Bower tapered bearing numbers are KA-11035-Z, the components of which are 15579A and 15522A, the other bearing is KA-11424-Z, the components of which are 17888 and 17830, any good bearing supplier should be able to tell you if the components are available. Do not mix Barrel bearing with tapered bearings their adjustment methods are different, hope that helps.
Well guys thanks for the research work. I have been trying to sneek in a few minutes to get back here. I got over to my shop over a week ago and got the other cups out of my second drum and the outer # was hyatt 11035=Z, and inner hyatt 11424-Z across from those #'s i found #52Y stamped on both cups. I forced myself up and down the stairs (recovering from knee surgery) at the shop and looked in some of my old parts books. In the CR bearing book it refered to 1938 to 59 4100/4400/4500 w/Lt duty axle useing inner #B44, outer #B45 and 2 seal opions 2.063 dia. 20669 or 2.094 useing 20975. The other choices went by axle sizes one being FE 900, or 585F, or 586F. I wrote all the numbers down but not sure how to figure the axle size out. Any thoughts. At this point someone at the local bearing supply house has to have cross overs, or I can check on line or if one of you have anything. gotta go it's late and I need to help the wife get to bed and so thanks again.
