New member to the site, although been poaching info from here for the past 5 years so thanks for all the help so far!
I have an almost all original 58 Apache. 283 sbc 3 on the tree small back window short box.
Truck was resprayed once about 20 years ago in the previous owners backyard. Not a good job, but I didn’t buy it for the paint lol.
Been really enjoying the truck. Drive it as much as I can.
283 runs strong, steering is all over the place , tranny holds gears but smokes a bit when she warms up
Needs some attention to make it a more enjoyable driver but we’ll get there.
I have one photo attached so you can see what I’m talking about. Let me know what you think, any and all advise and criticism is welcome and appreciated
Thanks for having me -Mike

Welcome to Stovebolt Mike. Consider yourself home! We're here to help so just ask your questions in the forums. See you around the garage...... oh, like your truck.
Welcome to the ‘Bolt! Nice start to your project. We would love it, if you expanded a bit on both your story/history, your goals and what you have already accomplished on restoring your truck.
And of course please post more pictures. We ‘Bolters love pictures. Again, welcome to the forums!

Nice truck!! The Task Force are special.
The 3 speed trans are pretty easy to find. Hopefully a steering box
adjustment can solve the all over the place issue. The ones I run into
benefit greatly with a set of leaf springs ,tie rods
