Here's my question. I really want to use my 36' torque tube 1.5 ton rear. The springs are in great shape and have seen little use. The brakes are newer, the bearings good, the gears are nice. All the tech sites here talk about engine/trans swaps for 1937 on up,mines a 36'.Does the torque tube spline on my truck match any newer year trans. that I could use with a full pressure 235. The 207 is a weak sister,( valve springs look like .030 wire frown )and the motor I have is dead anyway. I've researched some but with the collective knowledge here, some one has to know where to direct me. I have 2 pressure 235's staring at me in my shop, i just need the mystery trans....Thanks for your help in any way..Rick

Your four speed is probably strong enough, it was used until 1947, so a bellhousing from a '38-'47 would bolt to the 235 and provide the rear mounts and pedal mounts and the floor start. You may want to use an early 50's or late forties 1/2 ton fourspeed to get sychromesh. The 206 is longer, therefore you will need to extend the front mount plate on the frame and use early 216 front mounts. The information for switching from a 216 to a 235 covers most of it.

Thats the info that only comes from experiance, thank you Baldy! I have 2 '36 transmissions that are good, so I'm going with the '38-'47 bellhousing. I don't think I could give up double clutching:) The rest of your info goes into my files. Anyone out there with a bellhousing let me know. I'd forgotten about the pedals and floor starter, I do want to keep them. Thank you so much for your time, I've lost sleep over this! This site is unreal!!.........Rick

I put a '41 216 engine and transmisson in my '33 and Baldy is correct about the differnce in length
I also had to change the rear cross member to accept the rear motor mounts. Look at it closely as this was a '33 not a '36. I used a cross member from a '37.

Thanks 31,32,33. I can handle the fabrication of the mounts, it's just getting the right combination on the motor bellhousing trans.right. Not many of us 30's guys here at the site, we have a whole different set of issues don't we.I've been a later model cut 'em up guy in the past, you know Camero sub frames,9" f**d rears and stuff.I've seen the light sorta speak here lately. As a matter of fact it was talking to John Larson ( 35, 1.5 ton in gallery ) that stopped me from cutting up this 36'. I had a 454 and 400th ready to go in it. Glad I didn't now. I'm having way more fun trying to keep the personality of this truck. Thanks for your input and time it's really appreciated.....30's rule!...Rick
