Picked up about 1,000 pounds of alfalfa for our ranch today.
I can't believe the truck will be 73 this year! Still working hard.

I went to the sand and gravel pit for a yard of sand. Told the woman at the desk, 1 yard. She weighed me in and said "go wait for the loader by the wash pond." Loader shows up and I held up 1 finger. He fills the 3-yard bucket and dumps most of it in the pickup. More? he signals. No, I shake my head. I weigh out at 11,570 lbs. Oof! That's two yards! Still an inch to go before the rubber bumpers hit the frame though. Good it's only 2 miles home but all up hill.

Did Fred Flintstone have anything to say while he was loading that truck?

6000 lbs in a one ton truck? What was the weight going in?

Ol' Roy got a workout last week.

Had to plant some crape myrtles and liriope at the Ritz. We were parked on Peachtree for 4 hours blocking one lane. Nobody said squat to us about it and never saw a cop. Managed not to have my gloves stolen by bums this time.

Later in the week had to haul a bunch of planters and plants to a customer.

This past weekend in Ohio. About a 160 mile round trip. I stayed 2 nights. Crappy weather but turned out pretty good.

I assume the first photo was taken the morning you got there.

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors delight.

Evening pink and morning grey, sends the traveler on his way. Evening grey and morning pink, makes the traveler stop and think.

Bill Hanlon, were you really selling pumpkins for 25 cents? Those are like $15 each these days!

and where are you getting pumpkins in May?

The picture was taken for a calendar November 1, 2013. I borrowed the pumpkins from a nearby church's Halloween "Pumpkin Patch" for a couple of hours. The 25 cent sign was just to make the picture look old. The house in the background is the homestead of two old bachelor German farmers who raise a few head of cattle and some sweet corn. They are still at it. The picture below was also taken at their place.

Don't know if this relates to any of that, but every photo I click on in this thread (Bill's, Glenn's, and Otto's) comes up with the caption "Two days later I'm tired of shoveling". Don't know what that's about. I clicked on one in a different thread and it didn't do it.

That's a glitch in the forum software. If someone adds a caption to their picture, it "sticks" and is applied to subsequent photos in the same thread. We've gotten hold of UBBthreads to see if they can fix it, but haven't gotten a response yet.
If someone puts in a space in the caption box in the attachment manager, then posts a photo, there will be no caption on it and other photos in the thread.
[on edit] I copied Bill Hanlon's pumpkin picture and reinserted it without a caption. That caused all following pics to have the carryover caption removed. At least that removes the confusion that Rich had with the photo captions all being the same. ohwell

Appreciate everyone's notes and feedback on the picture posting issue. HQ is working on solutions, but in the meantime Kevin suggestion above will help temporarily in the picture title issue.

A PS here in Dan's post, because I don't want to get this thread any more off topic. dang Understand about the space in the box before dragging in an image ... BUT it would be beyond wonderful if you'd take a minute and actually caption the image. Even if it's just the location, like "KC Reunion 2012." If you don't want to caption the next five images, that original caption will keep! TRY IT ... you'll like it. Well, WE'LL like it! thumbs_up

Thanks Dan, for allowing me to barge in here. ~~ Peggy M

Back to posting about the topic at hand as the season change is making it more possible by the day (for most folks - sorry Kevin and others still in the snow zone cry ) to get out and put our trucks to work. grin

I finished installing new brakes and wheel cylinders on Ol' Roy and my friend came over to help bleed them yesterday.

Thought I'd load it up and test my work today. It passed. PTL 4x4s weighed it down pretty good.

light weight was 6200. Took me two weeks to shovel it off and prep for the pavers. Then yesterday it was 1,000 lbs. of appliances. Used my motorcycle lift to get them off.

Hauled a bunch of soil and plants downtown yesterday. One of the valets at the Ritz backed a car into a 6 foot tall ceramic planter and smashed it.

This is to let y'all know some of us town folk use our trucks as a truck too.
Did some weed'n out back yesterday. Made a run to the "transfer station" (aka dump) today.
As I said to someone questioning me... "I Didn't build this truck to just look at it".

That's nice.

People ask me all the time why I drive my vehicles in Atlanta traffic, etc. I tell them I didn't buy them to save for someone else to enjoy after I'm dead.

My 63 k10 daily driver. Ive towed a bunch of cars (heavier than I should have) and load it up all the time. The 454, new power brakes, and brake controler do help. Hopefully it will be getting a makeover soon so I dont beat it to death. So many other projects though.

My 53 used as a daily dump truck
It was 90F out today and humid
It went to the landfill and dumped a load of roofing demolition and the truck barely went a needle width beyond the center of the temp gauge

This is the truck I used evaporust to clean the coolant system when it wanted to over heat last fall on cool days

This truck is all numbers matching with original engine.
It’s a bit crooked but I got used to it.
