This is the Gott Boy's latest acquisition. A 1942 Diamond T model 969 6 ton wrecker. This vehicle will keep our 1940 Chevy 1 1/2 ton dump company in the shop

Good looking rig. Bet you could pull a building down with that one.

Most of us look at the truck, the first thing Spanky sees is the Wrecker unit on the back grin Cool truck and wrecker. What's it's power? I mean besides lots. wink

Spanky, what do you think that Holmes W-45 is rated for? Those military units were always over built.

John,

A kid raised on Hotwheels, Matchbox and Tonka cannot be reasonably expected to own only one vehicle as an adult.

John,
I thought you were in trouble for the last one! What kind of addition to the house do you have to build for this one???

Cool truck, though!

Regards,
John

Well;
This truck cost me a '68 Mustang convertible for Mrs Gott. ANyways to answer a few questions:
Engine is a Hercules JXC (574 cubic inches) flathead 6 cylinder rated at 125 hp at 2200 rpm's. (remember its not horsepower but the torque that counts..........)
The wrecker boom is rated at 6 tons off road, but on road the combined boom rating is 10 tons, however a suspended lift would exceed the chassis rating of the truck. Up front is a 7 1/2 ton rated winch. The boom winch is powered off a divorced transfer case and both booms can be operated independently, the boom speed is controled by both throtle and the transmission (usually would use 2nd or third gear while the transfer case is in neutral)
Road speed is 45 mph with a tailwind.
Transmission is a 5 speed Fuller and the axles are a double reduction unit made by Timken.
Oh, almost forgot, 3 mpg, with a 50 gallon fuel tank.
Anymore questions let me know

John Gott

So, if anyone needs help in recovering their new treasure from some farmer's field, we know who to call!

Probably not much that that thing couldn't move!

John,6-10 tons.I could have used your wrecker the other night.I recovered a 2004 Grand Marquis from the local inlet. The weight of the car plus the water in it @ 8 Lbs. per gallon made for a hard pull.At that road speed it would take you about a week to travel from Maryland to Long Island.

VERY NICE. That falls into the big bolt category in my book any day. I'm new here but you have inspired me to add my deuce to my profile, as soon as I figure out how to put pictures on here. It's not nearly as impressive as your wrecker, but does have a 30,000 lb winch behind an impressive custom bumper. Your right about the bonus duty. Two days after I got it, it came in handy when I needed to tow a 64 C60.

Glad your kitted up to do ALL the recovery anyone needs on the site! Only down side is the fuel costs.
Over here where fuel is currently 2$ a litre its a expensive hobby.
I'd be looking for a replacement diesel unit and keep the original stored.

I'll just bet that 45mph is on dry pavement, gravel, mud, and 3 feet of snow. grin eek
