Is this supposed to happen this year?

I notice that it seems to be very much out of date, so I don't know how useful it is anymore. There is a discussion on ethanol free gas on the Red Flag Deals site. In addition, the province has a Low Carbon Fuel Standard, which aims to achieve a 20% reduction in fuel carbon intensity by 2030. It seems that soon we will not be able to get ethanol free gas. I'm looking at the K100 and Stabil additives. Since premium gas is 20 to 25 cents / litre more expensive than regular, it's not a cost issue; just an inconvenience. (missed your post in the other thread - I stopped reading it when they started talking about buying fuel in bulk)

Chevron 94 has been the only "guaranteed" source of ethanol free, I'm not surprised but I am super disappointed. Common sense (and freedom of commercial choice) is completely out the window.

It separates and forms a gel like substance that clogs up carburetors. Over the years I have owned allot of gas powered equipment, snowmobiles, yard tractors, weed trimmers, lawn mowers, etc. Some sit for six months at a clip. Prior to the availability of non ethanol gas, I was cleaning three to six carbs a year and use if Stabil didn’t help. Since I switched to non ethanol, I don’t have that issue and my equipment usually starts up with no issue. Living in the North East, my truck sits from November thru May so that’s why I use nothing but non ethanol.
Now my issue is batteries. Don’t get me started!

Not only that - when sitting, ethanol can separate from the gas and also collects water, which can form rust and (together with bacteria) generate acetic acid that loves to eat carb housings for breakfast. Since ethanol free gas in banned since 20ish years here in Germany, we (old car guys) buy something called "Labracin" which deals with that problem. Labracin Not sure if it is available in the US, but I'm sure there is something similar. I use it religiously sind 20 years now - especially cause my cars are siting over the winter, as long as we got salt on the roads - and never had a ethanol based problem. Best, Frank

The ethanol will be absorbed by the water, and you can pour the undiluted gas off the top, carefully, since the water/alcohol mix is heavier than the gas and it settles to the bottom.

Noticed that the premium grade now contains ethanol - no more non-ethanol option there. My friend with his old English car tells me that Chevron is no longer selling non-ethanol gas. So, that's it - no more non-ethanol gas available here. Looks like I will have to buy a case of Sta-Bil.

They encouraged enthusiasts to email their MPs to get them to advocate in the House of Commons to keep one grade ethanol free. There is now a petition for Ethanol Free Gasoline for Collectors Cars which can be accessed on their website: sva.bc.ca.
It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.
