The Stovebolt Site Forums The Side Lot Annual Stovebolt Reunion (Kansas City) 2005 - In the Beginning

In 2005, we heard about the Stovebolters in the Kansas City area getting together. Not sure if we had a Heartland forum in the Side Lot yet. Most of the chit chat was in the Events forum (no longer there).

Most intriguing -- a naturally occurring GABfest. Many of the names talking about attending were very familiar to us from the site.

Well, low and beyond, a lot more info came out afterwards in the Hot Wash. And gobs of pictures. So many people and trucks we were familiar with.

The first year, whether it was 2004 or 2005, Sherry and I went on a whim just to get away for a weekend. We stayed at an old upper end hotel in downtown Kansas City. The show was pretty small but I think we met Mongo and we saw "toomanytocount" there. After the show we went back to the hotel then walked toward the central train depot converted to an event center. That's where we found the Jack's Stacks BBQ joint we ate at the first year Peg and John joined us, which was the following year I believe.
John and I changed name tags several times, dumbing each other down too. Those that knew, knew. Sherry and Peg took in stride as they do. The reunion grew each year, especially of the Stovebolt years, John and Peg where definitely the draw!
2007 we met the Aldersons and the following year we were invited to see their personal collection and has been a part of the reunion ever since.
