I thought I knew these Taskforce trucks real well, things are a bit different on the 55, its like they were learning on them.
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Many of the parts were the same (except casting housing date stamp) as those used on cars in 1953.
I think, by your questions, you are finding out that a restoration involves a lot of research.
Stovebolt members try to help each other but remember we are human and make mistakes.
Investing in some documentation helped me and continues to help.

Many were purchased without the available options like turn signals, radios, heaters, electric wipers, and rear bumpers. Most didn't have a fuse block unless options were ordered. Several aftermarket suppliers offer the factory style turn signal switch.

Chevrolet Accessories / Installation Manual If it was a 57 on up would not be so many questions. I'm finding out things are a bit different on these older TF trucks, a few things a bit better and some not so, its like the factory workers where learning on them.

several 57-59's without.
However, this is by no means a scientific sampling or representation. Some buyers felt they needed them, others did not.
I have seen trucks that came with the factory switch that someone wired around with an aftermarket switch as well.
Not sure when the states mandated turn signals, probably about 1960.
