I think the "tag line" for the pictures you are seeing is actually the file name it was assigned by whoever created it. The actual file name and size is automatically displayed in the bottom for the picture, no matter if you gave it a "Title" when you added it through the attachment manager or not. Did you actually give them a "Title" in attachment manager before you dragged them there???

No ideas of help on the video side of this conversation, sorry.

Those images are actually ones I dragged from the C drive here. The tag line that shows up, after hitting Post Reply, is from the KC Event.

I do see the file name and size at the bottom. Just absoluitely no idea how it came up with a tag line.

Wonder if it is something hanging in a clipboard somewhere in the Attachment Manager folder. IF that was the case, I would think there are tag lines much more recent than KC. OR, it's carry over from my computer. The only ones I did tag lines for was ODSS Winchester.

So ... makes no sense. Yet.

Going to try a test here:

I have added an attached pic, titled using that box through "Attachment Manager", but left the file name same as was auto-assigned by my PC when I downloaded it from an email.

Lets see how it displays???

EDIT: I can see the title I gave it "Test Title" along bottom, and original file name and size displayed above that line.

Not sure what pic you are referring to with a tag-line??? The 2 pics in most recent attachment don't show a "Title" line for me. I only see the files name and size.

About the video files, John said to see if people will post their videos on an outside hosting platform, especially if they are oversized.

That takes care of the video problem.

Now ... any ideas about the "lingering" tag line?

John beat me to it. Video on YouTube then link in Stovebolt. Lots (not me) of our members do it that way.

I see 2 pictures displayed as attached, the "sculling" and "359pete" + the wmv file link below in that reply block. No "Group" shot picture from Mongo's title that I can see, even when clicking on the photos for full view.

There is not group shot from Mongo's.

The WORDS under the two pictures (a/k/a tag line, title, description, etc.) is:

"THIS IS THE GROUP SHOT FROM THE GATHERING AT MONGO'S (KANSAS CITY)"

I did not type that in. I did not type anything in the box when I dragged over the two pictures and the video.

Does the "description" show up in your screen?

Martin, any hosting platform will do. Plenty besides YouTube. Yes, have seen that in many posts, too. That's the preferred way to go.

When I click on the pics to fully display, that line does not show in my view. All I see is the file name with .jpg and file size info - file size data shows inside parenthesis ( ). Nothing below that in my view.

Ok. This is weird. Wonder if Paul or Gordon has a clue of what it could be. If they don't check in by tomorrow, I'll PM in am.

I just edited a post in Paint & Body Shop that looked like an imbedded video. The poster had just pasted the url into his post. I copied that and used the url link tool and captioned it "Link" but it still appeared directly in the post.

Just wondering what's up with that.

You have to remove the http// at the front of his link for it to truly be a link.

As a mod, you should be able to do as Martin suggests and edit the post to remove the https:// (or http://)

X2 to what Marin said, or as an alternative change "http" to "hxxp".

Both will fix the embedded link problem.

Looking at a post from Phil, I'm going to see if I can rotate an image that's in the Attachment Manager.


Well, I find that a reader can rotate the image in the view mode to correct the image but it doesn't save it. At least, I didn't find anything to save it.

On the two images -- the second one I tried to turn it upside down, which it showed that but it did not stay.

I went to the old standby that John Lucas said he did to fix images. I moved the image to the desk top and then rotated it (right mouse) there. Then moved it into the Attachment Manager.

If the original poster can't correct, anyone viewing the pictures (when view mode is active) can use the small "arrow" circle in top right margin of picture that appears by holding the cursor over that section of the screen and clicking the circle. It will rotate the picture for the viewer so they can see in correct viewing position. However, it does not make a permanent change to the attached pictures. Just temporarily reorients them.

That was the image that Phil showed in his post.

So at least that helps the viewer. As folks get more use to posting images, maybe they'll put them up upright. Or, it may not matter to most folks.

I guess I'm thinking ahead ... I think UBB has a "custom" feed that brings up random images. Have seen that on other sites. Thought it was cool but hadn't gotten any of the details on how it *actually* works.

Testing an image thing again.

If the original poster brings the photo (on his/her computer) into the Paint program. rotates it, and then saves it, I think the photo will retain its orientation.

Then, he or she can edit the post on Stovebolt, use the Attachment Manager to delete the photo, upload it again, and click Done. Then click Change Post and I think all will be okay.

I don't know if a Moderator save a copy of the photo and then use the above process to get the orientation correct. It might be worth a try.

It's always best to get the orientation correct before uploading it.

I think anyone can copy a picture that someone has posted. But only a moderator (or the OP) can edit a poster's post and replace the photo.

I have been trying for weeks to post pictures in the Daily driver site will no succes. I have desided it is because I have a HP chrome book.
