Here is an attempt to attach a picture using click/drag.

I can see a file indicated in attachment manager.

Picture does not show when selecting Preview New Thread.

Picture (along with caption I added in Blue text) displays after completing post.

Yes, when image files are added to a post via the Attachment Manager, they do not appear when you preview the post. They only appear when the post is actually posted. That's the nature of the beast.

BTW, your blue caption also appears at the bottom in white next to the file name when it is viewed. I would suggest using a different color that has better contrast with the photo so it will stand out and be read more easily.

This now works for the iPad too. I split the screen between photos and Stovebolt, and was able to drag and drop. So much easier that searching thru my 3,000 + photos!

It seems this "test bed" has been a good idea.

Would a cell phone be the same as an iPad? Had a new guy email me from his Samsung. Directed him here (as well as the original thread for pictures in the forums) in case he ended up with some problems.

Thanks for the response and input Dean.

The white text displayed at the bottom when you open the attachment is actually the file name I created when editing/saving the screenshot. My oops for not noticing it was already displayed with the picture.

Was trying the blue text using picture editing program based on others comments about need for a caption, but looks like no need for the extra effort.

Thanks as well to Peggy for helping sort this stuff out and make life easier for us all.

I found out something just now.

Bolter sent an image to me in an email. I "saved as" and it went to my download folder. I didn't really want to open the file but it would not drag from the "preview pane" portion in the file manager (files in on side of screen/actual image on right side of screen). NUTS.

On a whim, I just dragged the file itself. As it rolled across my screen, once it got even NEAR the Attachment Manager box, it was the image of the image file ... and shazam! It worked.

The other day, I only got an image CLOSE to the box (ran out of mouse runway). I had to let go of mouse but the image made it to the box!

Anyone else try this?

After reading your last reply, I had to .

When I first posted my "click/drag" test results, I clearly forgot to say that I was actually able to click and drag the file from my computers download directory to the Attachment Manager box successfully (was so proud of myself for being able to figure out how that I didn't actually say what I did-duh).

I did have to shrink down the web page window on my computer screen so I could actually see the file directory window and place mouse cursor over the file name to do the click/drag over to the Attachment Manager box.

Hope this clears any muddy waters I may have caused.

It would be for an iPhone but I can’t say for any other brand.

I would think if the phone is able to run split screens, it should work.

Every now and then when I add an image using drag and drop, it doesn't appear on the bottom of the box. What I do is click the "X" on the box to close it and then reopen the attachment manager and the image I added shows up a few seconds later. Just a small glitch. Closing and opening the attachment manager seems to work every time when it doesn't show up normally.

In Windows, if I have everything at full screen, I can click open the attachment manager, then click on the open folder where my photos are on the task bar at the bottom, select the photo I want to attach, then hover the mouse pointer over the browser icon on the task bar, which opens it up, then drop the photo in the attachment manager box. Having things at full screen helps find the photo among the bunches that I have.

There seem to be a number of steps for adding images. I'm still working on it myself.

Part of *my* problem is, well, when I drag an image over, it disappears from the box. Dean says the image is there (I do see it below the box) and it's out of the way to enable you to add more images.

I think I hit done and then preview and I got nothing.

You need to put the caption in BEFORE dragging the image into the box.

Rustoholic said put caption in ALL CAPS.

Ok. I tried it and it was a bit strange. Glad I read these posts.

Did do the text first. When I hit, "select a file to attach," it just kinda bullies its way into that square. It automatically wraps it up ... fortunately, the images are lined up at the bottom.

It will be interesting to see how to change or move the images.

Now this one would be great for a video.

I did a test of the click/drag attachment method you and others suggested (instead of using the select from file location box option I have been using) through the Attachment Manager.

Process does work for me, although I had to shrink down the forum screen size so I could see and click/drag the file I wanted from the stored directory window. You have to be able to see the file/source window to be able to use click/drag.

As most know, I’m not the brightest bulb in the lot. Unless, I’m in the sun a the glare off of my head is very bright!
I use the full editor, go to the attachments, chose and add a picture. The picture appears on the bottom of the attachment thingy.
Then I hit done. The only thing I get is the picture link address.
“Oh” I’m using a iPad!

Jim, iPad is what I use 99% of the time. Full editor, attachment manager, choose file. Click on photo, let it load, click done, click on post reply. Works every time.

Don’t forget to click on “Post Reply”!

I'm testing an image for the "left corner spot."

Had to resize the original. Hoping this will work.

It did work. Thanks for the spot. I need to adjust the image later for a "click for larger image" but I have to get in the server for that. A Monday do.

I have tried and tried but no surprise I can't. Mostly I don't understand where to start. Not your fault, Ron the computer Greek.

I would say when I get gray hair but it is too late for that. But some accuse me of tinting my hair, particularly my brother. He took after mom a skinny hillbilly who turned grey by 30 and I took after dad, a little on the chubby side and dark hair almost onto death.

Thanks, Peggy for misplaced confidence. I have tried it is like listening to a foreign language and not the anglo Saxon type. I just reread the instruction and I have been to that all along, I think.

Fear not. I'm the same way. I'm a guess and check, lots of pictures, lots of instruction, until I get the hang of it.

I see some people have a video in with their Attachments and the video plays in the line up. This one by itself, presents itself as a download. It's a wmv file. Wonder if that is part of it??

Gonna try something else.

Besides the video not showing up in line-up (also a wmv file), all the images I dragged to the Manager, have a tag line that I did not put in there.

Any idea about all this???

I have a 38 second video on my phone that is about 37 mb from crusin the coast. It seems to be to big to let me upload as an attachment and I can’t put it on my Flickr to link it because it’s video and not a photo? Any suggestions?
