The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Can't drive 55,think again

I just sold our 45 2 ton Chevy to a man in eastern Ontario Canada.He drove the truck back to his home from here in Western NY state,about a 230 mile on way trip.This 45 Chevy has a stock 1959 235 engine I rebuilt years ago,and 6.17 gears in the back.At 60 mph,the engine is spinning over 3300 rpm with the 8.25-20 rear tires.
His email to me once he got home;

We made it home! Truck ran excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would take it across the country tommorow if I had to. You did a great job on the power train, the truck purred like a kitten, did 55-60 mph at times!!!!!! And made it on one tank of fuel.. Pretty amazing..400Km Thanks for everything, any time you up here in Canada stpo by and take her for a ride.

Wow-that sounds pretty good.230 miles on a tank;how many gallons does it hold? My 62 only went about 150 miles on a tank coming back from utah last weekend,and it was less than a gallon from empty when I rolled into town.(of course I was towing another truck)
