The place was only about two miles from the very large truck collection that many of us went to visit a little over a year ago so I felt like it was necessary to go by there to see the owners. The Gentlemen that own it were not there. It was around 10:00 in the morning. Apparently, they are still in the Trucking Business since there were fresh tracks in the gravel parking lot from a big rig. There were 2 pick-ups parked near their shop door but the door was locked and no one was around. All of that beautiful old iron is still there ! When I'm back up there working in the coming weeks, I will stop in again to see if an auction is anywhere in their future plans. I will report back as soon as I know more.

I go back and look at the pictures I took that day and am still amazed at that collection. I sure hope they do something with them soon. Some of them will probably only bring scrap money before long if they continue to sit out they way they are. Thanks for the update.

I did catch one of the two brothers in the office, which is the old store on the corner filled with signs and gas pumps. I stepped in and spoke to him for a few minutes. After asking if an auction might be in their future plans, his reaction and answer sort of indicated that a sale is not in the plans and definitely does not seem to be a high priority right now. The two brothers are the only ones running the business now and it keeps them really busy. He did say that many years ago, there was 10 people involved in running the business. After just a few minutes talking with him, a gentleman that works for him walked in and they started discussing a truck mechanical issue that needed attention, so I didn't stick around to hold up their progress. It's sad to think that many of those trucks will likely become rusted ruins instead of getting brought back to life and put to some enjoyable use! | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 283 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 283 | I'm currently working on a project literally 2 miles from this incredible collection. I have been by there about 5 times in the past few weeks. If I can catch one of the owners there, I'm going to take the liberty of offering assistance from us Stove bolters to come and help with an auction if they want to get a plan going to make a sale happen. At the very least, we could visit again and perhaps have a choice beverage over by the river cabin that I'm currently working on. It's an incredible little ride across a field and through the woods to a view of the river like none I have ever seen! The cabin sits about 100 feet above the James river and the view will make you want to stay for a week. It's very difficult to go there in my work truck with no fishing pole (or rifle, this time of the year).I'm friends with the owner of this place so we could make a trip there in the spring ! Just a thought my brothers .... | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 Bond Villain | Bond Villain Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 | Brilliant! Sounds like a great idea -- hope you can talk to them.
Staying tuned ....

I'd really like to see the inside of the country store building!
