Hey 38_1.5Ton,

You may need to go to a vendor like this below (just one of many I found doing quick web search):

https://www.raneystruckparts.com/mud-flap-rear-frame-accessories/

Mounting of the hanger brackets may take some added fabrication, then your choice of "flaps" to give you desired results.

Appears there may be just enough frame rail tail sections' extending beyond spring mounts to place hangers and still clear tires.

Let us know how things work out.

Will you be adding a body to your truck, if so then the flaps can hang from that. If not then you can make a hanger for them that attaches to the rear frame rail. If temporary you can bolt a 2" x 2" piece of angle iron across the back of the frame and hang them from that.

Flaps come in 24, 30 and 36" heights. Position them so they don't drag when loaded.

This is no longer the case, but we used to have a Delta Truck Body plant in the next town over. When they put their body on a truck, they put their own mud flaps on, with their logo, and took off whatever the truck had on it when it came in. I had a friend who worked there part time. He was able to get me a brand new set of flaps with the name of some truck stop in Nebraska, I believe. I have them on my '47. They look great, and didn't cost me anything!

I guess my point is, if you have a place like that near you, check with them.

By law flaps have to be no higher than 8" from the ground. I don't recommend getting much lower than that either. Otherwise you will be backing over them in soft ground or backing up to a curb. I have owned trucks for 58 years and sill own a dozen trucks. And have paid for a lot of flaps over the years. I don't recall ever being written up for flaps more than 8", but every trooper has his own ideas of which laws should be enforced. I would recommend Buyers Products. They have a good product at a reasonable price.

The bolt on square stock holders sell for around $50 a pair. It is hardly worth trying to build something for that price. And not all flaps have the holes in the same place. On the square stock holders you can adjust the brackets to the holes. The TBOZZ E-Coating Black Mud Flap Hanger Bracket with Hardware Sold by Pair sold on Amazon will work just fine. I use Betts 3/4", They cost twice as much, but my trucks are on the road every day.

I found a set from the selling dealer. The dealer went out of business in the 80's.

A piece of 1x1 angle iron that runs all the way across from one side to the other and then a piece of 1/8" flat steel the width of the flap to sandwich the flap to the angle iron.

Another great place to find mud flaps is ... the side of the road! I have picked up a few flaps laying on the side of the road. At my work, we tend to lose a flap now and then, and flaps aren't exactly cheap anymore. In fact, I have one from the road in the cab of my work truck now -- to remind me to put it on...

If different logo/designs/wording is a problem, just turn 'em around so the plain black side faces rearward, wink

The side of the road is also a good source for bungee cords ... Its amazing how many you see once you start looking ...

Eric, Normally for a post like that we'd send you a PM. But for THAT one, I'm afraid we're going to have to administer a severe beating.

grin Jerry mentioned the mudflap girls, and I remembered having that picture, so I couldn't resist... I saw that on the hood of an AD at the Lone Star Roundup a few years ago.

38 1.5 ton Doesn't your local parts store have flaps with their name on em ?? Mine are Fisher auto those guys are like family !! I certainly spend enough there !!! you'll learn that if you back up to gravel pile it'll pull your flaps off. Also for dress up you can put a stainless plate at the bottom so the flap doesn't sail so bad,or use those nekkid ladies as hot rod said this may not meet with approval from other sources though LOL .
