When I removed the hub cover plates there is a threaded hole in the axle like its giving you a place to pull on- but the shaft only moves in and out about 1/8" and wont pull out. Is there a retainer in the carrier holding them? It's a two ton with a 2 speed rear. Any ideas or maybe refer me to some literature? Give it a few quick pulls and it will come right out. Sometimes there's a slight bur on the end of the drum or the gasket it still stuck onto the drum, but it will slide right out, no retainer,

My joy was short lived though, pulled the hub and it looks like the bearings are shot.
