I just noticed today, after hosing years of accumulated dust, that my recently acquired '54 6400 has a sticker on the block that says "remanufactured engine". It has a serial number but not much else. If someone were to remaufacture a 235 what could I expect as far as what was done to the engine. ( bored out, etc.) the odometer show 87k but who knows if that's for real. She is also set up for propane with what looks to be a solenoid on the gasoline inlet to the carb. Should I get her running with gasoline or try propane first?

Matt - most engines that were rebuilt by 'dedicated' rebuilders have tags like that - means just that they rebuilt it to specs and what they did depends on what it needed - either bored if necessary, or bored and sleeved back to original bore, maybe new cam, valves, bearings, etc - no tellin how many miles on the engine, regardless of odometer reading - might have been installed early or late in the trucks history

as for propane, up to you, but you'll hafta make sure everything is really there for the setup, but I'm pretty sure it would fire up on gas regardless

One big plus is that if it was run on propane the inside of the engine will be very clean.
