I cant seem to find the rod that goes thru the center of the hood hinge on my 38 1.5 ton.. does anyone sell that or go to hardware store? What size is it?

Other pro's may have the answer but I would not hesitate to go to Lowes or Ace Hardware, or such, and buy a rod. you may want to try "size" it using wooden dowels or do some measuring if you have a set of dial indicators.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Probably .250” which is common, easy to measure. My local hardware store has that, or can order it. SS is handy, doesn’t rust, however, it can gall, so make sure it is not too tight fit, lube with anti sieze upon assembly which will make a mess. Grind a bullet shape on the end inserting first to line up each hinge piece.

Others have used Teflon rod with success, no lube required.
