I haven't posted much about my build. Kind of embarrassed in how long it's taking to get this thing going. But isn't that where most of us are? Everything is painted except the bumpers, running boards, headliner bows and window trims. Think I'll do the headliner, flooring and seats before installing the doors. Much easier to work inside without the doors on.
Finally knuckled down for the last couple of months and wrapped up the wiring and gauges. (Been dreading that job for close to a year) Radiator and fan/shroud. A/C duct work. Column shifter to automatic tranny. 4L60E. 2003 truck 5.3 drive by wire, 243 heads, and mild (R/V) cam. Turned it over, no gas, to circulate oil and water and the waterpump had a steady stream coming out the weep hole. ARRR Pulled radiator and put in new pump. Knew I should have done that a couple of years ago when I built it. Today put gas in the tank, turned on ignition and pumped up the fuel rails, no leak down. So got son over and had him watch as I hit the button just one time and she came to life! WoooHooo Sounds a little ruff at idle, but I'm thinking it's just Cam Music. Gave the steering wheel a little nudge and it about took my thumb off. WTH? And also blew fluid out the input shaft of the power rack. ARRR Pulled it off and off to the drive line/steering shop in Phx tomorrow. Wondering if I swapped the lines to the pump?
Anyway, we are STOKED! 3" Flowmaster sounds SWEET! Don't know if I can make it but would like to drive it in the 4th of July parade in the little town where we have a cabin. Alpine AZ.

As Alvin says, 15 minutes a day and you’ll be done before you know it.

Swapping the prssure and return lines on an older Mercedes power steering gear would shoot 3K PSI hydraulic fluid up the steering column and into the interior of the car as soon as the engine started. Leather upholstery and hydraulic fluid don't play well together! That mistake usually totalled the car. At least GM put different size fittings on their P/S boxes to make them idiot-proof!

That's just what the guy at the rack shop said! I had a 50 50 chance at getting it right. It's a Lincoln rack IIRC. Fittings are same size. Get it back tomorrow. Hope the lines fit alright.
