Then pull the throttle knob out a bit to increase the RPM and see if the needle moves to the plus side.
Check the voltage after you pull the knob out a bit and compare it to the reading prior to pulling it out.
This should let you know if it is charging the battery at idle or only at above idle.

Never even dreamed fan could get into it. Fired-up worked fine,happened to see fan cleared by about 1/16 th. so you learn !! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,982 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,982 | To me it sounds like you need to check and clean the voltage regulator contacts, the regulators are temperature sensitive. The shop manual has a chart of voltage settings based on the temperature of the regulator.
