It should be on the side of the block just below the side cover under the 1&2 plugs. I couldn't find the cast number listed anywhere. Did they have the BG prefix on 216's?

| | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 452 Member | | Member Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 452 | Most references (even Chevy literature) don't show much for the years '43-'45 because of the war restrictions during those years (civilian trucks weren't built, except by special allowance). There was a small amount of civilian production that started back up in '45. I think it's safe to assume that the '42 engine prefixes carried through those years. And I should have included '46. That's '46 first design, or interim series. '46 second design was a new series with new truck ID and engine number prefixes.

Yes the number I provided is stamped in the right side of the block near the distributer. I guess it's safe to assume this is a 235, I will check the side of the pan for any signs.
