Now keep in mind, i've had this tranny out twice now, and while i've seen this thing hangin' out of the tranny before, it never really looked PTO-esque untill today. So have a look at the picture.. That thing closest to the tranny feels like it outta turn.. that thing sticking out beside it on the outside how you engage it?

This looks like an old Spicer PTO and it is made for a lever shift i.e., NOT a cable shift. If it isn't free turning then it is in gear and engaged. You can remove it if not needed and put the 6 bolt steel cover and gasket back in it's place. You can get one anyplace that installs or sells PTO's. I see your in western NE so call Kois Brothers or Frontier Truck, both in Denver. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | I'm going to keep it. I have a stakebed dump I want to put on this truck, and untill today thought I was going to have to find a PTO.
How would the PTO engage? Seems like pulling or pushing that deal with the hole it it outta do it, right?

A simple piece of flat bar pivoted in the middle, and attached to a piece of round stock with clevises on both ends is all you'll need to engage/disengage the PTO. Run it through the floorboards near the parking brake, with another handle to the hydraulic valve for the dump bed. Jerry
