We're pretty cold here right now, but no snow.
Is that blue Binder a KB-5?

How far did you whittle down the wheelbase and bed on that 530? That trip to KC was quite a ride!

Jerry,

I shortened about 4’, as much as I could with the existing running gear and crossmembers. Just right for the crane bed I had on another truck. Made a stepped welded joint, long bolted doubler. Worked out well that length. Easy one man job, although the mag drill would have been easier with 2.

Besides it was awkward getting and out my driveway.

Ed Pruss I see on a lot of frame welds they make all kinds of fancy cuts to get the job done,I assume you welded with 7018. On big fertilizer off road frames we always cut them with thin wheels, scratched up clean tacked-up straight welded with 7018 lo-hi or what the pipe-fitters called hippie-rod. That was because when 7018 showed up those hippie fitters could make an x-ray quality weld with it !! Even girls done it.

fixite7,

Yes used 7018 and flanged bolts and nuts, much easier.
