My father in law and I are building a 1966 short wheelbase 4x4. We have two 1966 GMC c10 trucks to utilize, but neither is 4x4. My father in law has built 3 street rods and we are both fair mechanics, however neither of us have attempted what we have in mind. We know it will work, but we don't know which frame and drivetrain to look for as a donor vehicle. We are thinking about using a 2000-2006 Tahoe or Yukon because the wheelbase only differs by 1". We have found an early 90's Tahoe, but again we don't know what will work best.
If anyone in the community has done this or knows what frame and drivetrain is best suited, please share this information with us. We live in Northwestern Alabama and I will be posting photos and updates as we progress.
I am very happy to have found this Forum and look forward to exchanging ideas and information with you all.
Thank you, Fatcat66
