I would like to add wooden planks on the side of the bed. But how you fix the vertical ones on the bed? I have no holes orso to fix them though. If i stick one in from the top if falls out in the bottom 😁

Who has a picture where i can see the inside of the bed and how its fixed?
Thanks

Normally the vertical slats drop into the bed pockets at the corners.

The horizontal slats keep the upright posts (slats) from falling thru.

Aaah ok. I was wondering indeed. Because if you put a vertical slat in the come out at the bottom haha

So the horizontal planks will rest on the side of the bed?

Thanks

Robby I also made a wooden rack on the sides. For the sides i used wood slightly bigger than the hole itself, after that I shaved a bit of the underside so that it goes in the holes. The wooden beams i used were from the Karwei. If you want i can give you the dimensions and detailed photos of the rack.

I don't know what kind of wood it is. It think it is sparrenhout (bouwhout).

The AD trucks came from the factory with sheet metal stops welded in part way down the stake pocket. My bed also had thru holes front to back just above the bottom of the stop.
But the stops in mine had been beaten out by whatever they put in the pockets and there were holes in the aprons below the stake pockets. All that is getting fixed, including new stops that I had fabricated.

The first pic shows one of the stops sitting above where it goes in the stake pocket, and the holes thru both the stake pocket and the stop for a thru-bolt.
The second pic shows my dimension sketch for fabbing new stops. An ex-employee worked for a company that has a 30 ton press brake, and offered to bend them up for me.
Pic #3 is the new stops painted and ready to go in.

I used the same method as Hookalatch, with a countersunk head wood screw in the side of the pocket, then painted it the same colour as the sides. Virtually invisible.

My bed bed rack is made from red oak. I used stainless steel fasteners. Have fun with your project!
