Hello forum members,

My name is Brian and I am new here on the forum. I am from Germany and I am 43 years old.

My hobby is to wrench on old rusty cars and get them back on the road.

I am currently restoring a 1970 Chevrolet C10 Stepside, this will be a frame off restoration and I am currently putting the body back together. The only thing missing is the front end.

My favorite is a special vehicle though. I still have a 1966 Chevrolet C60 Firetruck. This is just technically completely renewed. All lines (fuel, water, vacuum, brakes, hoses, cables/electrics and lighting equipment. hat is also my problem at the moment. The project goes no further because I can not find parts for the brake system and hope that here is someone who can help me or give a secret tip on how to get the parts.

The search for the wheel brake cylinders is hopeless. I have the following installed:

Drum brake wheel cylinder for rear axle twin tires. There are two per side (top/bottom)

Delco Maoraine

1 1/2[/font]

It is also difficult to find the brake master cylinder because it has a large diameter:

Master brake cylinder with clutch cylinder
installed part Wagner Lockheed FF 54846
DUAL BORE SIZE 1 3/4" & 1 1/8"
PORT SIZES 1/2 20 1/4 28

One more question about the brake shoes. Which ones go in there?
Brake drum diameter: 15 in
Brake shoe width: 4 in

Does that mean I need brake shoes 15x4? Unfortunately I can't find them anywhere.

The project must not fail. When the Firetruck is running again, it should be used for good purposes.

I hope you can help me.

Many thanks and greetings from Germany

Brian

Brian, a big Stovebolt welcome to you! Thanks for your report and congrats on your vehicles.

I know you can find answers to your questions but you are not likely to find them here in the Welcome Center.
To get technical answers please ask your questions in the garage forums and we'll do the rest in helping you. Very few, if any questions, are answered here.

I'll suggest that on your C-60 firetruck that you ask those questions in the BIG BOLT forum........or even perhaps in the Driveline forum. We have moderators that will see your post and if they feel your questions can be answered better in another forum they will move your post and let you know.

Take a little time and browse around getting familiar with the Stovebolt and you will not be disappointed.
We also have good following for firetrucks too. A little patience will go a long way but I'm sure we can help.

In the meantime we will leave this post, with questions, here in the Welcome Centre so others will have the opportunity to say hello to our new member.

Hello Brian, my oldest son is currently stationed at Ramstein AFB.

As already mentioned, it's best to ask your questions in the appropriate forums. For brake questions you'll get the most replies in the "Driveline" forum. You found the best website to get your answers. We're glad you found us.

Welcome

John

I'll give the translator a whirl ...

Willkommen, Brian!

John

Hey! I speak German, now! I wonder how badly I mangled it ...

John, kannst du mir auch ein bier bestellen? Ich möchte gern ein Hefeweizen.

Welcome Dixon, I get to Germany from time to time. I even met a stovebolter last time, in Schorndorf, near Stuttgart.

Hello together,

thank you for your great welcome in the forum and your answers. I will ask the questions in the appropriate forums.
Beer, schnitzel and spaetzle are already very tasty :-)
