I have received a tach as a fathers day gift but it has no instructions with it. There are four wires black, green,white, and red. I am pretty sure that the black is ground, the red is for the backlite, and am not sure what the others are for... I want to connect with a stock 235, and if you take the cup off there are a couple of loops of wire inside. My memory tells me that 40 years ago one of these loops had to be snipped. No brand name on the tach, but is has a couple of mooneyes on the face.... Help!

Try and go to this site. http://www.mooneyes.com/instructions.PDF

It has instructions for the Mooneye gauges. You need Adobe Acrobat to read it. I hope this helps.

Aloha,

Keoni

I really appreciate your help UR2 SLO but I guess that my college degree was from the wrong century cause it is all greek to me , as Ive got wires coming from the back of the unit and the setup decsribed at that site seem to all use a module or plate, maybe a sending unit of some sort.... I have trouble reading between the lines. soooooo!

Red= power or battery
Black= ground
White= lights (splice into your dash lights)
Green= negative side of coil

Should be good to go.
