Anybody have experience rebuilding the 47-53 3/4 ton steering gearbox? I'm in mine now and could sure use some help finding parts. I could probably get away with making my own gaskets and checking with the local bearing supplier for bearings and races possibly even the bushings but, I'd sure like to just find a kit...

Pretty sure the 3/4 tons use the same box as the 1/2 tons, I know the earlier trucks did. Here are just a few I found.

Yeah, Classic parts said theirs is only for the 1/2 ton, thanks for that link though Joe H. Looks like I'm going to try out the one on E-bay and hope for the best. I'll let you all Know how it goes.

The service manual says steering gears are the same from 1/2 ton thru 1-1/2 ton trucks, except for forward control trucks, school busses, etc. The difference in the bigger trucks is more balls in the recirculating nut.

That's great news! I ordered the one from E-bay. It should be here by Saturday I think. Time to get cracking on cleaning up the old parts. Thanks again for all the help.
