Hi guys,

Thanks for letting me join the forum!

Just wanted to say hello from Shropshire, UK & show you my first ever classic/historic! A 1966 Chevrolet C10 Fleet LWB, running a later 250ci 4.l I6 SBC mated to a manual 3 On The Tree column shifter!

Seems to have undergone what I'f call a light/medium restoration, alot of thing replaced & rebuilt, also running Air Ride suspension too!

Currently on it's way over from Amherstburg, ON Canada from one of the nicest sellers I've ever come across! Hopefully when It arrives, it will be as honest as he's said!

I'll try and figure my way around this forum and start a project thread, I'll also post a few photos now for you to see!

Thank you grin

I may have a right hand steering for a 1966 if a 4wd panel is the same. Was a rural mail delivery conversion when new. Looks like a nice truck.

Welcome JStarr, I used to know a lot of people in Amhertsburg, right on the Detroit River. Nice truck, hoping you are happy with it.

Massive thanks for the warm welcome! I'll post a bit more when it's hit the UK & i've finally seen it in person!

At the moment it seems like alot of guesswork for bits I want to buy, I'm 100% in the dark on this as i've never had anything so old either, excited & terrified all in 1 smile

All I really know about the engine is that it's a later 79-84 250ci 4.1l I6 with the intergrated intake/head, Struggling to even map out a service list let alone looks for distributors & engine bits!

Hopefully when I got see it I can get more info!

Guess who's hit the UK!!! Can't believe how quick it's gone! Off to see the truck this Friday coming (26/11/21) Few pictures from the shippers from their UK centre.

Will get some more sorted, Also seen a few videos, all looks intact, sounds amazing, running ok, little lumpy from not being warmed so I'll have to order some bits.

So excited

So it's been a somber week. Sadly they can't put it through an MOT test, as its riddled with Home bodges, Terrible welding & corners have been cut. This means I can't register it for the UK roads until I've fixed it all & had it MOT'd.

Luckily I have some good guys around me & were looking to have it done by the end of Jan / Early Feb.

Obviously very upset as I didn't think it needed a couple of thousand ££ throwing at it before it would ever see the British road, & the seller was a little quiet on this front, but its hit & miss as he hasn't F*cked me over really, he has been pretty honest about almost everything, & after speaking to him, I believe he genuinely didn't think it mattered as much as it does in the UK ,but I've only got myself to blame.

Seller has offered verbally over over the phone to pay for the floor pans, nothing through yet, but either way still a nice gesture verbally will see what happens, he's a nice guy & this can be rectified, so we will see in time.

Truck still looks absolutely stunning, runs & idles like a new motor, starts on the bean & sounds mean, gauges work, lights all work, gears shift well & can definately feel the new clutch, brakes do work well too, loads of positives in this, just a little hurdle & it means I can get to know my truck & do some custom work of my own to make it how I want it.

From the pictures the shipping company sent (will add a couple below) it's not actually as bad as they stated. They were 100% money fishing for the highest amount they could think of , as some of the items they've pictures are simply beauty parts to cover brackets that have gone rusty, so the work load has lightened off & i've now had it trailered back to my unit so I can start all this myself for cheaper.

From what I can see, it needs:

Rear air bag brackets moving & re welding ( one has completely snapped off)

C notch needs seam welding

Plasma cut parts on the frame for bolts need patching and cleaning up.

Brake lines need re doing & P clipping to the frame rather than loose/cable tied.

Air lines from the air ride go through the C notch & the air system leaks, so new lines needed & I will be converting it to a 4 way manual switch to each corner instead of just a front & back system * figuring out how to vent to atmosphere, rather than airing out through the switches.

Apparently the floor pans gone, but this has been patched from above and they haven't attempted to look properly, so carpet will come up & I will inspect, so hopefully I can make a few custom pieces / sheet and weld it in correctly.

I posted these issues over in the Driveline area as suggested.
