Do you have any other things you are specifically looking for?

How high do you want it to go?
How much space do you have?
How heavy of a vehicle do you want to put on it?
What does your budget look like? Are you trying to go inexpensive or do you want something really nice?

Do you have a preference for 2 post vs 4 post vs portable?

A search through previous posts in this forum might help you see what others have used and recommend.

Otherwise, I don't know the capabilities of your facility or what your budget is. You can go from an in-ground cantilever, in-ground three post, in-ground two post, in-ground side by side two post, above ground two post, above ground four post, or any other number of configurations.

Be sure the floor where you plan to install it is rigid enough to handle the load, even if you have to dig deeper and pour a thicker slab in places. Then figure out what capacity and height of lift you want, and go at least one size bigger in both dimensions. Nobody ever regrets upsizing capacity, assuming the shop where you're installing the lift will accomodate the upgrade. My shop has a 6" steel reinforced concrete floor slab and 12 foot walls, so I'm planning to go with a 10K pound capacity lift that lifts the vehicle at least 6 feet off the floor.

I put in a 9000 lb 2 post lift. As Jerry mentioned, I thickened my floor slab where the load points are.

I just wanted to share this with all of you. The first time my 59' went on the lift. And "YES" I wish I had done this years ago.

homeinspect Bought a 12000 pound 4 post lift like the exhaust shops use,is on a 4 inch thick floor of good quality concrete works fine. has one long cylinder with like timing chain linkage 2 adjustable platforms that slide. Once its up use a tall jackstand to raise corners of vehicle very versatile.

tut that 12000pound lift I described is OK to be outdoors I think they make a polish rod cover for it. If not you could make one ,cylinder is on top out of harms way.

I'm going to use a 30 gal plastic drum with the side cut out to slide over the pump assembly. I figure that will keep the pump out of the elements until I get the roof done.

I always ask how old they are; over 65---4 post, under 65---your choice. Those arms get harder to position with each passing year and getting up from the floor is not fun at my 85. Just use what is best for your need. My four post has rolling jack so brake and suspension work can be done just like on a two post. My two post has just gathered dust for 15 years do to creaky joints.

Four post Bendpak HD-9 (9,000 lb capacity)

It is barely moveable - I have placed it off-center of the peak in my 2-story-tall garage roof.

This will allow me (at 71 years) to stand under my Suburban& Pickup (and never have to crawl under them again. Crawling under a truck/vehicle was quite-OK when I was younger (and, when I did not have the $$ for this type of lift).

As I have posted earlier - I do not deserve this garage, but, the cost of the house/property/garage was very good (at auction).

I bought a Twin Busch 11,000. Our shop already had 8" concrete with 5/8 rebar on 12". It picks up anything from my smart cars to my one ton flatbeds. But like everything these days, they are a lot higher than they were a couple of years ago and everything is backordered.

https://www.twinbusch.com/product_info.php?products_id=6

We put it towards the back of our shed to still allow for 2 semis to be serviced at one time.

I've had good service from a BendPak 10k lb, asymmetric, Model #XPR-10AS, in service for me for nine years. BendPak has changed the color, and the price is almost double what it was in 2012, but the unit has been quite good. I've used it for vintage Chevys, a variety of older BMWs, and my '14 Nissan Titan. The BendPak lifts are ANSI/ALI certified, and come with a certificate of conformance. I've seen quite a few in the Dallas area in pro shops, FWIW.

I have the same lift as Doug. They will mount to a 4" slab if the slab is big enough and in good condition. Mine had cracks, contacted BendPak and they gave me the specs to pour suitable piers to make the lift work. It is in the 3rds bay and is a little too cramped on that side. Better than a creeper though.
