Google the part number and contact the vendors that claim to have a gearset.
I've already done that (and continue to do so). This post was part of that effort to turn over as many stones as possible. Most places either show them back-ordered, out of stock, or just don't indicate. I've called a bunch of places, and most take my name and number and tell me they'll check and get back. Everyone so far has said they've checked their sources and come up empty.
I've gone back to my notes from 15-18 years ago, and called a couple places that don't even have a web presence. No dice with them either. Really sad how many if the old places are just gone...
Thanks for your reply!

Have you tried a search on GM H110 axle. GM built that axle for about 25 years. I think 1968 was about the last year. Are you trying to re ratio? Owners of 1 1/2 ton GM trucks have been trying to make them go faster for over 50 years and the 5.43 are probably getting scarce.
Further research suggests that these gear sets were used in the H110 axles through the early 1980's. GM built a chassis designated P3 or P30, which was used for HD delivery van bodies (think large bread trucks), and also for RV chassis. The axles were often times referred to as banjo axles (see last picture).

I'm pretty sure I've read every page on this forum related to the 5.43 gear set. Great information available, EXCEPT where a guy can find a set... ARGGHH!!

For many years I bought gears, etc from Crane Carrier/Truck Parts Specialists. They got out of the business about 10 years ago. I understand the manager, Jim Youngs became manager at Inter-Continental Gear & Brake . I think it would be worth giving them a call again.
I have one ring and pinion of the elusive 5.43 set. I’m no genius nor have I been hoarding truck parts for decades. I’m just one occasionally lucky SOB who watched and waited and searched on eBay. Due to recently acquiring a new rear axle for my 1940 big bolt, I’ll need to sell my 5.43 H110 gears. I’ll get some pics and tooth count posted up.
